USEFUL STURDY, SAFE -- EXCELLENT VALUE IN A FOLDING KNIFE

Bought this for my 11-year old Boy Scout. It is a man-sized knife that opens quickly with a push on the nub of the blade. It acts like a switchblade, but for purposes of California law, it is not -- there is no spring, just really good design and leverage. When it opens, it locks in place, which is a safety feature I require for a folding knife. In our family, we consider good knives to be tools, and use them often for hundreds of tasks. This one does what has been asked of it well, and seems very sturdy. My son just returned from a Scout forest camping trip where he used it several times for various chores, and it worked perfectly. It impressed me enough that I bought another (with wood handle) for myself, and another for my older sister, who carries it for defense. Two thumbs up.

Big mans knife.

I gave this knife 5 stars all the way. This is a big knife, heavy in weight, good sturdy blade. The knife has a strong spring assist, and sharpens real easy to a razors edge. I’ve had this knife for a couple of months, just decided to write a review. I paid $5 bucks for this knife and it’s worth every penny. I will say that I’m a collector so I don’t use anything but my E.D.C. But I certainly don’t think you’d go wrong with spending a few bucks for a decent knife.

Did I mention I love this knife?

I have owned a lot of knives through the years, and I'm 60 so I can say "through the years" and it involves a few. I have owned buck's and Kershaw's and Case's and Old timer's And I use my knives strenuously; Rather like like other guys use crowbars and hammers, so I expect a lot from a knife, My knives were my "multi-tools" long before Leatherman came along....but This ElkRidge A003 is probably the first time I fell in love at first blade lock. It is a solid clunk that sounds like the breech lock on my old double barrel. It is a heavy knife, and most of the weight is in the hand. And a bonus for me is that I am left handed so when they stuck the pocket clip on the left side of the knife, I'm sure they thought they were doing all of you right handers a favor, but that is not how I see it, I get to have the pocket clip under my left thumb, which ensures a solid grip to assist me in opening the knife. The blade has plenty of positive spring pressure to assist in opening, and the tang at the base of the blade is long enough that I get a good leverage to open the knife. Opening is swift, and the lock is positive. I've seen knives selling for ten times the price of this knife, that were not half as good. The drop point blade is beautifully hollow ground by CNC, and gives the blade a light airy feel. I a plan to get several more of these knives as gifts (and for me as replacements.)

I really like this knife

I really like this knife. A bit fancier than my everyday carry knife and a bit larger than I expected. Build quality is solid. Blade is crazy sharp, and the wood handle is a nice touch. Only issue or non issue depending on your personal taste is the speed assist. I find it a bit slow compared to other knives I own but still not disappointed overall.

Great desl

This was an awesome knife for the price. I was pleased with everything about it and it would make a great gift. PS, I’m female.

Nice quality, heavy knife... however leather pull doesn't match and spring assist lacks strength...

Nice heavy knife, good quality construction. Beautiful wood handle. Spring assist isn't the best, probably due to the heavy weight of the blade itself. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the leather pull string which doesn't match the wood or anything else on this knife. It seems out of place and the thumb lock/closure isn't the easiest to use... Other than that it's a fine knife.NOTE: If you appreciated this review please give it a “thumbs up/like” your helping me to continue to give honest/unbiased insight into products I’ve used and you may have questions about. Interested in a product but don't know enough about it and would like it reviewed? Please let me know and I'll see what I can do... Thank you 🙏

Nobody can beat this value at this price point.

Exceptionally well done assisted folder, especially for the money. Very sturdy, well built, the blade is not wobbling at all, same as my Buck folders. The size is like Buck alpha hunter. Elk Ridge knives has unbelievable value for the money. Quite sharp out of the box, I will see how long hold it. I am about to buy the pakkawood handle satin version too. Nobody can beat this value for the money, that's for sure. Thanks Elk Ridge and Amazon.Today I ordered the wood handle version for $7.90 here in Amazon! I still can't believe they can manufacture and deliver to my porch such a good knife like this for less than eight bucks. Hands down.

great for a spring assisted knife - beautiful . fine looking

this is by far my favorite knife.compared to an mtech folding knife non "spring assisted".this knife is far heavier. it seems like a mini saber. You could slash with it. It has its own weight.other knives that are too light. they are too light. you would need far more pressure with your arm.to slash or stab. in a fight. far more than with a medium weighted knife.as far as the spring assisted action goes - it's superior to folding. why. with one single click motion - although delayed - you can open the knife. you don't need a 2 part series to open the knife. you don't need 2 hands.my folding knife needs to be opened like a spring assisted to open up initially, then switch to a thumb action to finish the job.Unless you apply a shit ton of pressure with the thumb - in which you may disarm or cut yourself. Also with a spring assisted, such as this one, there is no doubt, if local "authorities" in your area - ban switchblades.whereas a folding knife is not naturally open, it's also not naturally closed. nothing really resists its open besides the initial burst.i'm sure it's not a switchblade. but with an assisted opening knife, it is for damn sure it's not a switchblade. there's a spring resisting the opening.
