Lovely book about Elizabeth I
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and kept commenting on the wonderful illustrations. We got this for our history program via the Simply Charlotte Mason curriculum.

An Age Appropritate Biography of Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth I is one of those extraordinary figures whose life story has fascinated people for hundreds of years. It is almost impossible to write a poor biography of her life. Unfortunately, she lived in very violent times and takes skill to tell her story in a way that is appropriate for young children. The prolific Diane Stanley has the necessary talent and she does a great job in "Good Queen Bess". The illustrations by Peter Vennema are first rate and add to the pleasure of the book. Highly recommended.

My 11 year old LOVED this!
This book was part of her History for this term and she had a great time narrating it back to me every few pages. She learned a LOT and enjoyed the read.

Perhaps My Favorite Picture Book.
I came across the original edition of this book years ago and fell in love. I had wanted to check it out of the library a few months back, and color-copy my favorite pages. There were so many to copy that I decided I should purchase the book. This edition is the same as the original, except that the front cover has been changed (for the better). I recommend this book to everyone interested in English history, Catholic/Protestant relations, European history, and Western Civilization.

Great graphics and appropriate reading level
A little too controversial for the kids. All that religious war stuff. Aren't we supposed to erase conflict from history? Great graphics and appropriate reading level.

Good History book for kids!
We use this book as a part of our homeschool history program and my kids really like it. It gives a condensed version of the story of Queen Elizabeth with enough info to keep the kids interested without being so long that you lose their attention. And the pictures are good too. Highly recommended!!
