Merchant Gourmet Microwaveable Puy Lentils 250 g (Pack of 6)

These lentils are delicious and so versatile. I use them in Shepherds Pie, spaghetti sauce and lasagne when I need a vegetarian dish. Our latest use is as the filling for the huge courgettes we are growing. Added herbs and spices ring the changes though they have been cooked with herbs already and taste good without addition. The pouches have a long shelf life so they are good to keep by during the pandemic. I bought this 6 pack because my supermarket ran out of this basic flavour and substituted ready spiced lentils which are not as versatile.

I have just been diagnosed with Diabetes and these Puy Lentils are a source of carbohydrate that has one quarter of the percentage of carbohydrate compared to white rice. Just 18 g per 100 g. Pre-cooked and very quick to prepare. These Puy Lentils also taste delicious. The Beluga Lentils are even better!

The Puy Lentils are absolutely delicious, I can't wait to try the other varieties in the Merchant Gourmet range. And so easy to prepare. I roasted a green pepper and some tomatoes in the oven and when done, roughly chop and add to a pan with the warmed lentils. Add butter and olive oil and serve with crusty bread. Simply delicious!

Mixed 50/50 with Quorn mince and used as a filling for a Cottage pie - excellent.The other extreme, just eaten cold straight out of the pouch - yummy on the go meal.
