Best flavored chili powder I have ever used

My GG grandma used Mexene as we all have since 1906. Nothing else comes close. I remember Mama refused to use or eat anything else…It’s hard to find these days. My understanding is it was bought out by a Louisiana food company that only sells in bulk. I just found it, I think repackaged from bulk, but had to search. It has a wonderful smoky flavor. The recipe is still a secret, but I think the smokiness is chipotle, without too much heat. I will have to make my own when I can no longer find it… like Mama, everything else is too bland, too hot, or too much cumin. “The blend has earned international recognition as the “Chili Champions Choice”. This is why traditional Texas chili was — and is — made with dry chili powder. Are fresh chilies better? That depends on your standard. For Texas-Style chili, dry powder is according to the tradition. And Mexene is one of the powders of choice.If you want to use fresh chilis, great, more power to you. But just know that your product — be it great or bad — is simply not Texas-style. If you want to make Texas-style, then do as the chuck wagon cookies did and use a dry powder such as Mexene.
