Exactly what I was looking for.
The drive in my laptop stopped working and i'm not somewhere currently where I can't try and fix it. So I ordered this. It shows up as soon as its plugged in. Have had no errors or driver issues. Reads and burns disks just fine. The case is a nice bonus and handy to keep it in when not in use

An inexpensive solution to read/write DVD/CD
I bought a ASUS laptop that does not come with a CD/DVD Player/Burner. This external CD drive is exactly what I was looking for. Rips and Burns like a champ and is very quiet. No extra setup is needed.It does play music and DVD's on it's own. It is a very inexpensive solution to read/write DVD/CD needs. Recommend it！

Great little drive
While I wouldn't call this a perfect DVD drive, it does what I need it to do for the most part. Considering the price, I can't complain. It is truly plug 'n play right out of the box. It burns dvds just fine. It is VERY light weight. So much so that it takes two hands to insert a disc and close the tray. One hand to hold the drive still while the other closes the tray. Otherwise the drive just pushes across the table. I like that it is small and easy to maneuver though. Storing it away when not in use is easy since it takes up very little space. It is a great drive for the price. I had no unrealistic expectations when I purchased it and I am please with performance so far. I would recommend it, but don't expect perfection. If you want high quality with bells and whistles pay more and look elsewhere. If you just need an inexpensive drive that works right out of the box with no instructions needed, this is a good choice.

The best solution for external drive that people don't have internal disc drives on their laptop,I attached it to a USB port on my new MacBook Pro (it won't work connected to a USB hub), and within minutes I was listening to an audio CD and viewing a video DVD. If your newer Mac lacks a disc drive, get this light and slim external drive."

works well and pretty
I purchased this to replace another external drive. This device works well and it is pretty. a few things I like:1 Well constructed. Should last longer than my last drive.2 Plug-and-play.3 Built-in cable and storage. Cable stores nicely in the device.

Would not recognize discs
Would not recognize discs. After I inserted a disc (DVD or CD) it would spin the disc a bit and stop. When I selected the drive in the file explorer a message would come up saying there was no disc and to insert one. At that point the drive would open up. I tried multiple discs and none of them worked. I returned it to Amazon for a refund.

Average drive, works but take some tinkering.
Not super impressed with this player. It works well enough but I have to mess with it a bit( load and unload disk a few times). It could be a compatibility issue with windows 10.
