Designed for the average user plus good leeway
Used for a year now so able to make a qualified comment I think. Used for running in town, night hikes, general camp light. Keep handy most of time as weighs nothing. Controls are intuitive, battery life great assuming you aren’t an idiot. I’ve worn in some fairly heavy rain without issue too. On the negatives it would be nice if the activ core had some kind of indication of battery lvl. 1,2 or 3 would be sufficient and avoid unnecessary recharges. Just a thought.

Disappointed, look elsewhere
Really disappointed in petzl with this product, spending £40 or more I expect a priority on ergonomics and size, decent materials and durability, with an average light output, and reasonable battery life, ticks mabye two of these boxes. The size is bulky, just look at black diamond, there competitor and you can see at this price range and lumens output a smaller frame is very much possible. the materials feel cheap and breakable, and I went with petzl on the expectance of quality. the ipx 4 leaves a lot to be desired, again, black diamond have an ipx 8 on their similarly priced rechargeable head torch, the revolt 350. the battery life is ok, nothing to write home about, find my self getting 1-1/2 dog walks out of this, something I’d be apprehensive to take travelling, the one saving grace is the brightness, 450 lumens is good, but again looking at their competitor black diamond, although their revolt has a max of 350 lumens, it allows use to cycle through its full brightness range, with the petzl, it’s a low 6 lumens, good for just seeing right in front of you, 100 lumens and straight up to the 450, I’ve found many situations where I’ve needed something in between. Petzl needs to reshape this otherwise their name alone will not keep their reputation.
