Does its job well
This works great on either 22 degree or 14 degree angel blades.

Not as Good as I Expected
I wanted so badly to finally get a tool that would sharpen my knives with that razor edge we're all looking for. I read the instructions thoroughly, did exactly as was directed, and ran several of my knives through the process. What I got was slightly better than they were, but not what they said would be a razor edge. After testing on a couple older, less used knives it did improve their edge somewhat. Running my daily driver through it made no difference whatsoever. When I was done I tried slicing a tomato with no luck. I guess it's back to the whetstone and elbow grease for now. I will say that it looked like the box had been opened, so it's possible that I got a returned item? Returned for a refund.

Makes your knives very sharp... great for 20 degree European maker blades, too
Bought this sharpener for my new Shun knives (Japanese, 15 degree edge). Used it to put a 15 degree edges on my "20 degree edge Henckels" set also. It takes some effort to convert a 20 degree edge to a 15 degree edge.To convert, you're going to have to grind away more of the edge than merely sharpening. (Doesn't actually grind the sharpest part of the edge, but rather grinds down some of the metal "above" the edge so that it conforms to the 15 degree template.) There are instructions for this included with the sharpener, but here's a tip on how to make that conversion a bit easier. You're likely to have to pull the blade through the sharpening side 25-30 times on each side to "reshape" the edge. Of course you can alternate left-right, left-right, 30 times. After doing that on my first couple of blades, I modified the procedure a bit.1. Grind only one side of the blade maybe 15 times. Check for a "burr edge" as described in the instructions. 15 times likely not enough to form the burr, so grind 5-10 more times. KEEP COUNT OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PASSES. Once you feel the burr, grind the other side of the blade. The burr may disappear after only a pull or two, but the 2nd side of the blade won't be properly shaped yet.2. Grind the 2nd side of the blade the same number of pulls you ground on the 1st side. That will make the edge more-or-less perfectly symmetrical.3. Then make 2-3 passes, alternating left-right just to be sure it's even on both sides.4. Then make several passes on the "polishing" side of the sharpener to finish. My Henckels Chef's knife took the greatest number of passes through the sharpener because it's the thickest blade... more needed to be ground down above the cutting edge, but worth the effort.

It will sharpen very well
I bought this sharpener because I wanted razor edges on my knives for work. I have used on all my home knives, and on all my work knives. My kitchen is very prep heavy and using a sharp knife makes all the difference. I have found that no pull through manual works the way I like, and I'm no good with a stone, but this put an edge on my hardest Damascus steel knife and all the knives with ease. I had to put more work on the hard steel ones but it was worth it. German steel worked well at this angle too.

Works as advertised
Took sharper out of box, read instructions according to the type of knives I wanted to sharpen. This thing re-sharpened knives I had from 1996 and turned kitchen knives from Walmart into blades as sharp as the Cutco knives I have. Also sharpened my pocket knife with it. It works as advertised

Great Knife Sharpener!
Reasonably compact, easy to store away, but the main thing it sharpened my kitchen knives to factory sharp!

Wow, dull knives are so yesterday…
The media could not be loaded. Maintaining sharpness becomes very easy with this sharpener, if used correctly. When you introduce your dull knife to this easy to use sharpener you may need a few runs to adjust to this machines angle, however once achieved you can maintain sharpness with just a few runs. We have been using this sharpenerWe have been using this sharpener for over 6 months and thus far we have no complaints.Pros:- plug and play, no setup required- small- easy to use & maintainCons- not suitable for knives 14” + in length- not suitable for knives 5mm + in upper blade thicknessWe can highly recommend this device to anyone requiring easy knife maintenance.

Excellent Product!
I have had the worst luck with knife sharpeners until now. We all have our own test for how well something can sharpen your knife and for me its tomatoes. I have about a dozen knives some thick, thin and some high end kind of pricey. Well let me tell you this sharpener will Really do the job. It is easy to use and you really need to read the instruction to use it properly. Please note I don’t like reading instructions but this time I did. I have never been able to cut tomatoes like this it’s fantastic. This is how sharp my knives are now I barely touched the blade of my knife and got slightly cut. So be carful. I am so impressed!

Very pleased with this sharpener
I have a XINZUO 8 inch Chef Knife (Chinese not Japanese - I know, but an excellent knife) that after a couple of years had become dull. The pull through static sharpener I had couldn't keep it sharp and I don't have the skill or patience to use a wet stone. This 315XV sharpener brought it back to its original super sharpness in a few seconds! I am very pleased to have my knife back.

Foolproof?! Good
Should have gotten this years ago. No guess work, no hassle. Takes a bit of practice to get going but after that you’re good. Be sure to read the manual well or even multiple times. Keep it near during the first few tries. It’s quite specific. But results are consistent and scarily sharp like never before like with manual sharpening (at least for me; never had consistency and most of the time medium results)

Easy to use, sharpens all knives
Great price. I got the two stage model. I sharpened all my knives: my Victorinox chef knife, a weird Vivio brand I got with grocery story stamps, some President's Choice paring knives, etc. All came out nice and sharp with no nicks left. It worked much, much better than my two pull-through manual sharpeners.Instructions are thorough and very clear: I recommend reading them patiently, but regardless the actual sharpening process is straight-forward, easy, and fast.Notably none of my knives cost more than $60. I suppose if I had some $500 Hattori Hanzo I might feel obligated to learn to use a sharpening stone, but as is I'm a busy dad who just wants sharp knives.

For the Price Not Bad, Cheap Plastic Guides Vulnerable To Damage, NOT A Heavy Duty Unit!
This is supposed to be a "budget" version of this companies most expensive and highly regarded model. I bought it to replace an old electric professional whet stone, the price seemed right. I found the instructions on how to use this unit a bit "bizarre" to say the least, but they are easy to enough to follow. The 3 issues I found - 1) the guides are plastic and it takes some getting used to in order to insert the knife properly, and the guides became "shaved" very quickly. 2) My knives are high quality German models, and both had the same issue; when inserting the blade into the sharpener, the bolster (the section that connects the blade to the handle) would interfere with the guides of the sharpener. This tended to raise the blade out of the guide slightly for the first inch or so. I am concerned that over time, this will cause the blade to become arched because of uneven grinding, and therefore no matter how sharp, will cut poorly. So I am careful to try to keep the blade as even as possible when drawing through the guides 3) Stage 2 seemed to "polish" the blade, but not much else! I have a high quality German honing steel that does the job very well, so I avoid this machines "polisher" all together, and go directly from the grinding stones to my hand held steel and "voila"; RAZOR sharp! One thing to keep in mind, "diamonds are NOT forever", diamond cutters DO wear out!

All my knives are useful again
This product is handy and better than the manual ones, which I have many of them. It works perfectly and sharpens all my knives. The disadvantage is that when I received this at my home, the package was not in good condition and probably it was not a brand-new one. I believe it is second-hand. However, it works fine but is not suitable as a gift to give someone as it is a used one.
