Strong Resource for New and Experienced Practitioners Using Mindfulness for Clients
Debra has created a valued resource for any practitioner using mindfulness as one of their tools for working with clients. Even though I already a have a strong understanding of mindfulness, Debra's clear and concise explanations of the fundamentals of mindfulness helped me refresh my knowledge and provided me new ways of presenting mindfulness to clients. She has organized the resource in such a way that even someone who has never used mindfulness with clients will have some guidance in regards to which tools to use for individuals with specific disorders like anxiety, depression and insomnia. I have used many of the tools in this book with my clients with great success. I recommend this book to any practitioner who is new to mindfulness and wants to get a practical foundation for the practice and for those who already use mindfulness and want a few more tools to add to their practice.

The information is easy to augment to any group therapy session
I am a Counselor working in MAT treating adults with Opioid Dependence. This resource book has more information in it in one place, than any professional continuing education seminar. The book is laid out in a fashion where there is no flipping around for information. The information is easy to augment to any group therapy session. I had trouble for most of my time using the book with the Kindle format. I could not print the handouts. I was forced to type up what I needed. Then I got the idea of reaching out to the author. She is very accommodating, and timely with her emails. She provided open and friendly communication to solve this problem. I was able to obtain the pdf files for the book. She is a very trusting and forward thinking clinician. Please do yourself a favor, and get this title to support your professional and personal endeavors to create mindful moments. Thanks again for all the Help, Mrs. Burdick! I will provide updates to my progress with implementation now that I have keys to the entire process.-Mike J.

Great therapy tool . . .
Awesome for supporting clients experiencing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, adhd, axis 2 struggles, dual diagnosis counseling and as a start with depression. I bring this book into session, and most clients really like it. Very popular. As with any guide there is a certain amount of tailoring activities to each individual, and making tweaks here and there, overall a really impressive guide and base to mindfulness work. I like to use this a lot in support of CBT work and practice, as an introduction to therapy, as well as an ongoing support. After each exercise I use client feedback, during process time, to make minor improvements to certain exercises that need a tweak here and there. It's worth it to purchase.the paperback, due to the necessity of making copies and handouts for colleagues and clients alike. Great book to share with other therapists in the workplace too!!

Great tool for a Clinician
This has acually turned into my favorite book for dealing with clients with anxiety/worry. The chapter on anxiety called How to Lower and Eliminate Anxiety, even has pictures of how to breathe from the belly standing and lying down. Tells you how the breaths should feel as you exhale them from your body. This is a great help to those that have a hard time understanding that the very first thing a person in a state of panic needs to do is BREATHE. Glad I purchased this book. One client even told me that she downloaded an app on her phone that plays "dripping water" to go along with her breathing she learned. LOL.

Don't forget the root...
A good book with wonderfully simple language, so accessible for clients with no background in mindfulness techniques. What this book lacks is a history. The author sometimes sounds as if she authored these practices and that is not accurate. Many are ancient practices from the Eastern traditions. I would have given the book a four if she even once acknowledged the root of her material. For example loving kindness is very much a Tibetan practice. I think if she included just one paragraph in the beginning acknowledging that while she compiled the book these practices are far older than she is... Otherwise it is a great guide for simple languaging and effective tools.

Excellent Resource for Wide Range of Adult and Adolescent Clients
I am firmly convinced of the value of mindfulness for treatment of a variety of mental disorders--from anxiety to substance abuse. But, I felt lost as to how to implement these techniques. This book has been the perfect solution! I have been using exercise from it with a very diverse set of clients -- from a high-school girl with generalized anxiety & social anxiety to a middle-aged man in early recovery from substance abuse who is struggling with multiple losses due to his previous lifestyle. All clients have fully engaged in the exercises and, most importantly, reported that they have been helping. This is a great basic resource!
