lights are a bit dimmer than I expected but not bad. The only con I can think of
the only thing I bought this for is its battery boosting capability but hadn't had a chance to use that function. The other functions of charging a small laptop, and tablet works well, lights are a bit dimmer than I expected but not bad.The only con I can think of, is that it needs 2 USB ports instead of just one, I wouldnt ding it for that since I knew it only had one port before purchasing.

I feel comfortable recommend this product among other testing and research
Quick summary:This is the second emergency car jump starter in the household. Even though I haven't had the chance to test drive the most important function of this unit to jump start a car with dead / low battery. I feel comfortable recommend this product among other testing and research.---------------------------A)Until not too long ago I have accepted that if my car battery dies for whatever reason (usually interior or exterior lights not properly turned off), the only solutions are:i) always carrying a long enough heavy duty jumper cable in my auto -- easy;ii) AND hoping that your family or friends can be summoned at a moment's notice -- easy but only if you are not traveling far;iii) OR hoping that AAA or other nearby emergency services can be summoned at a moment's notice -- make sure your cellphone has enough battery;iv) OR praying that a helpful Samaritan (be that Samaritan yourselves) with a decent car can be found at your most desperate moment;v) AND praying that your disabled car is parked without obstructed or long enough access to the battery terminals from other helper cars -- this has happened to me numerous times believe it or notCoupling with a competitive price point (even before seller's discount), I "jumped" to the opportunity to again procure one more from Amazon for my other car.Advice 1: as usual, you might want to stalk price fluctuations or a quick sale (e.g. (camel)^3 site) before a purchase since this is not exactly cheap and not utilized everyday.Advice 2: set a Google calendar reminder to recharge this unit every 3 months (standby time per seller since you only need 1 bar of charge for jump starting) for maximum insurance against dead battery (both the car and this unit); you might want to do this a bit more frequent if your car will be operated in more extreme temperature condition.B) Normal use cases and criteria/consideration1) My configurationsa) Cars: Camry 2004, Honda Odysseyb) Phones: Samsung S3, iPhone 5.xc) Charging cables: Motorola ECOMOTO USB Type A-micro cable (my go-to Android USB cables), Caska specialty cable with 3 different adaptersd) Laptop: Inspiron 15R 5520 (19.6 V charging adapter)e) Comparison jump starter: 5ive D282) Installation / setupPros / Neutrala) the 15V wall charger should be able to charge up the unit in a reasonable amount of timei) It appears that the jump starter comes pre-charged (possibility 70 - 80% at 3 bars) and it only took 1 hour to charge the unit to 4 bars (or is it 5 bars?); actually come to think of it might be 20 - 30% of the juice are lost during warehouse shelvingCons:ii) From all I tell from other reviewers, the charge time for the unit from deplete to full is really not rapid / really snail at all. In this day of age when we are so spoiled by our smartphones being rapidly charged at 2.1A (QC 2.0) or 3A (USB C full complaint), I guess the seller states that the charge mode is 15V at 1A really which is IMHO quite similar to the wait time for the classic Hein's ketchup commercial -- just like the other 5ive jump starter I own.b) the cigarette charger (12V Receptacle) should mechanically fit for the cigarette outlet of my car:Pros:i) It appears to be of good fit and quite snug -- not easily pop out of cigarette lighter at least at this timeNeutral:ii) TBD: I have not attempted to charge the jump starter unit via the cigarette charger for any stretch of time -- in fact, I find it ironic to utilize the car battery to charge a standby battery and I am afraid to do so to affect the normal operation of the car, iii) However, the cigarette charger is a great backup just in case the wall charger is damaged or lost.3) DurabilityNeutral:a) The plastic case that comes with the Caska is nice and thin and easy to carry and organize the components of Caska (see photos) -- but a cost of slightly more bulky and larger than the 5ive D28;b) TBD -- The seller claims that the Caska unit can sustain 3000 charge cycles -- I opt to interpret a cycle as the unit being fully discharged and fully charged; this should still give 18 years of product life assuming one full cycle twice a week; meanwhile, the 5ive claims only 1000 cycles but only time and actual usage can tell;c) TBD -- Since the documented operating temperature range is 0 to 85 C (32 F to 185F, or is it a misprint on the high side?), I wonder whether I will be able to count on this unit for subzero cold cranking while I am on a ski trip (local or travel); meanwhile, 5ive D28 claims -4F to 140 F which seems to be more reasonable;d) TBD -- Since your car is the only logical place to store the unit, the charging capability should also not be degraded from extreme temperature over time;e) TBD -- the cigarette charging outlet fitting should not be loosen over time -- this is the least of my problem because I simply do not want to take a chance in draining the battery from my otherwise healthy (marginally perhaps) running automobile unless I have tof) TBD: the manufacturer and the seller make no statement about the mechanical vibration effect on the unit; I probably need more research on this matter.4) Usabilitya) Operation / performance characterization:i) Automobile jump startingPros:I like the polarity proof/safe connector for the car jump starter cable (see photos) -- instead of following polarity colors (red and black) or attempt to trace the hard-to-read markings in the dark.Neutral:Fortunately, once again like in the case of the 5ive, I have not had the need (finger crossed) to actually jump start any automobiles with this unit. Be honest, the purpose of this unit is just an insurance against the battery .TBD: I suppose I could temporarily detach the car battery to test this scenario but I have to count on the unit's protection circuitry against the charging from the car (alternator) via the clamps back to the battery -- I simply do not think it is a good idea at this point.TBD: If I ever have to use this unit for jump starting, I will update the review for the experience.ii) FlashlightThe built-in flashlight is a very thoughtful feature (that is common for this class of jump starters to be fair, e.g. 5ive D28). Even I always have flashlight in my car trunk, it is still especially convenient for a dark night (i.e. when you need it the most) to find the car hood latch and the battery terminals for the clamps extension -- with just one hand holding the unitiii) USB ChargingPros:1. Use case: iPhone 5c + Caska specialty cable/5c adapter + Caska jump starter (this product)This seems to work as advertised -- I have only charged it for a few minutes. (see photos)2. Use case: Samsung S3 + Caska specialty cable/ small USB adapter + Caska jump starter (this product)Cons:(see photos) This will not NOT work at all because the adapter is for USB type B (e.g. external hard drive) and not for micro USB -- pretty strange if you ask me. It is quite different than the 4-in-1 specialty cable shown in the manual or on Amazon (also see photos); in fact, having too many loose small parts / adapters instead of a single specialty all-in-one for USB could be a liability in losing some parts easily over time -- I opt to put all the small parts in a sealable ziploc bag.3. Use case: Samsung S3 + Motorola ECOMOTO micro USB cable + Caska jump starter (this productNeutral:I) this seems to work but it is BYOC (bring your own cable) -- I have only charged it for a few minutes. Since I have a few extra micro USB cables, I can either keep it in the car or in the Caska case.ii) Lack of dual USB portDual USB type A ports that seem to be ubiquitous these days. However, personally I don't look at this product as an extended device battery bank but as a emergency car jump starter that happens to provide other fringe charging benefit features for devices.Cons:i) However the sole USB port will limit the number of SIMILIAR devices (e.g. Android phones with micro USB ports) that can be charged at the same time. You will need a special USB-to-whatever-target-ports-it-might-be splitter if you are willing to pay.iv) Laptop chargingPros:Just like the 5ive D28, I was able to make use of one of the ten round adapters for laptop (Dell) backup charging via the multi-voltage output port (see photos). You do have to press on the round button next to the USB port to adjust to 1 of the 3 common voltages available. It appears that once the adaptor is connected to this port, you will not be able to accidentally change the voltage to a different levels -- neither higher or lower which is a good safety feature not to blow out your laptop; 5ive D28 has similar feature.v) Other indicators, switches, and exteriorsPros / Neutral:The sturdy power switch of this unit reassures minimum accidental enabling but it is not as sturdy as the 5ive D28;The LED charge indicators (battery charge power level and laptop output voltages) also comes in handy for various operational feedback which is pretty standard for this class of jump starters. (see photos)ConsI find the clearance of car jump starter connector cover perfect for my short finger nails to pick. It is unlike the 5ive that could be annoying to pry/pick over -- no need for makeshift pick tool (e.g. bread bag clips) taped on the unit.vi) a bit OT: lack of air compression featureNeutral:I notice that some jump starters on the market (the more expensive ones $$$) sometimes also include an air compressor (e.g. for flat tire or air bed pumping). I was already given dedicated cigarette light air compressor as a gift many years ago (that still is operational today) that I will not need additional one at this time.IMHO, the inevitable increase in cost of the unit, usual slow pump time, long term maintenance (e.g. a battery powered compressor will be rendered useless if the jump starter portion eventually dies and the adapter/connector is not of standard size) of a combo unit makes it a less appealing choice.5) safetyPros:I haven't experienced any extreme heating up from car charger 1.5 hour of on and off of use for devices and wall charging (of this unit).Neutral:a) TBD: I came across some complaints on Amazon reviews about other jump starter products that will actually explode even upon light use or other special fringe conditions. This obviously has not happened to me yet since I haven't really jumped start any cars yet.Cons:TODO: I do not see any claim that the unit is built to protect against any over current, short circuit, overload, over-voltage, over-charge (charging or discharging). I am not sure I want to find out the hard way though.-----------------------------------------------------Product: Caska Portable Car Jump Starter 400 Peak Amps 13600MAH Power Bank Smart Charger Jump Start -- -- just in case in the future there might be variations in the product.Disclosure: I received this product discounted in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.Disclaimer: however this is still my own personal purchase decision processes; hopefully it may help you in your research.

Please read this review carefully.
It is unfortunate but like one of the more critical reviewers of this product mentioned, quality control is definitely lacking in this product. This is a very neat idea and a perfect kit to have in your vehicle for those times you may end up with a dead battery. Thats not to say its the perfect one. I have reviewed many of these similar type of kits. This one has an ideal briefcase and many ports to charge many things... from laptop connections, to smartphone connections and more. The only problem is that they just don't work. I tried charging my iPhone 6, iPad air and neither of the two worked with the connecting cables provide. For the iPad, the cable used was not compatible and for the iPhone 6 it never even charged to begin with.Unfortunately this was also the case for charging my Dell laptop which also did not work.I can not speak for the vehicle charging portion because frankly I was very worried about this unit and its lack of quality control. After all, paying over $70 for this unit and not having something that works can be a tad frustrating. Even though I received this product for free, I made it very clear that I will not be giving a five star rating just because I was offered a free unit. Customers need to know and in this case I even contacted the seller with the problem along with a video demonstrating the problem. Unfortunately it has been over a week and they never responded to my request. I can not say if I have a defective unit or not but the fact that the battery pack charges properly using my original cables and not the ones provided is something to consider. I am taking one star off for the lack of communication by the company selling the product and another star off for the unit not being useful with any of the cables and charging kits provided.I was offered this unit free of charge for my honest and unbiased review. I hope that my review has been helpful.

A must have in case of emergencies
The Caska portable car jump starter and power bank is a great item to keep in your 'just in case' kit. Imagine your battery dies and you break down in the middle of nowhere. This jump starter with 400 Peak Amps can start your vehicle and get you on the road. Imagine another senario, you run out of gas and you phone is dead! What will you do? How will you get help? This 13600MAH power bank can charge your phone so you can call for help because it has all the phone charger plugs you could need, iPhone, Android and more. There is also a flashlight on the end of this device for when run out of gas and are waiting for help, and you hear a noise in the woods, you can turn on that flashlight to see it was just a deer and not a ghost or a crazed lunatic. This is a really great device that will be very useful in emergencies. You can choose 12V/16V/19V DC output. You can charge any phone and almost any laptop. None of the adapters fit my husbands Vaio laptop though. It comes with a house and car charger. There is a set of jumper clamps that plug into this device to jump start or charge your battery. The flashlight can also flash SOS. I received this item at a discounted rate to try in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
