Helps, not magic
Looks, let's be real, unless you're going to jump out and chase away every dog, there is no magic way to stop dogs without a fence or other barrier. Anyway, like many on here, I have a problem where dogs will mark on certain spots, mainly the mailbox post. Since it is all grass, this of course ends up killing the grass due to the build up of nitrogen.I bought this product due to it being granules instead of a spray, as it seemed easier to apply. It's made up of various scents with the idea that dogs will in general either not like it, it will irritate their nose or maybe just overpower the other mark scents. Once a dogs marks a spot, various other dogs will now want to mark over it when they smell it, and it seems almost all dog owners do not bother to stop them, even if it's right up on a mailbox post (vs just peeing generally somewhere on the grass). Trying to change the behavior is mostly futile. So I have been spreading this around, and especially reapplying after heavy rains. At most I let it go 2 weeks before a reapplication. I don't smell anything when just standing there, but of course a dog will be right on the ground. To figure out if this is worth buying more, I have gone through camera footage from before and after, tallying up which dogs are marking there. And ultimately it does seem to work, but it's on a case-by-case basis. It seems to depend on the dog, ultimately. So what does that mean? Well, if your issue is with just one or two dogs, it's really going to be hit-or-miss on if this does anything for those particular dogs. But when you have a bunch of different dogs, it will at least reduce the occurrences across all the visitors. I plan to buy more in the end.

Ok product
Was really hoping this would work to keep dogs off our lawn, didn't see a difference.

Did not work, made problem worse :(
Dogs are walked along our sidewalk routinely. We regularly observe dead/bleached out spots from pee on both sides of the sidewalk. It's a domino effect, first one dog, then another dog comes along, then another. Each new dog smells the prior dog, etc. People let their dogs poop on the grass also but most of the time they pick it up. Our landscaper said pee is the bigger problem because the nitrogen compounds in the pee kills the grass, and it doesn't take long. I try to use water to dilute the pee but you can't be out there all the time.I tried Dog Mace hoping it would dissuade dogs peeing, and in particular an adult German Shepard with a large bladder. On the FIRST DAY of application, in dry weather, hot, the very German Shepard who has repeatedly marked up our our grass came along. He sniffed around a new area where he's not marked, dropped a sizable load of pee there. Then, he crossed the sidewalk to a spot he's marked before, peed there also --AGAIN :( The Dog Mace was applied along the entire stretch of sidewalk, both sides. No luck. At least not with that German Shepard. Perhaps it'll work with other dogs. I may try another application.

Sometimes it works
Sometimes it works but not always. If it rains it is washed out, and is needed to disperse more. However, in some cases it just doesn't work.

Works well as a deterrent
We live in a neighborhood with a lot of dogs. Some have goods owners, but others are oblivious. This product works fairly well as a deterrent when it is fresh. Heavy rain tends to wash away the components so reapplication is required. On sunny weekends, we see between 50 and 100 dogs walk by the front of our home. About half of the dogs used to stop and mark or pee on our lawn and street trees even though there is a green space 100 feet or less away. MACE reduces their desire to mark or pee when they take a sniff first. They usually move on. There are still owners that have no clue how to control their dogs and if they mark or pee without the sniff, the MACE has no effect. I have tried other products and this product does work a lot better. It is a good solution that deters most of the activity. I also find MACE and excellent value for the amount of product. There is no perfect solution, but I recommend this as an option.

Must have product
The dig next door was jumping over the fence. The next door neighbors were made aware of our concern. Since they didn’t take it seriously, here comes dog mace. I applied the dog mace to the perimeter of the yard. The dog doesn’t like the garlic smell. He even stopped barking! Thank you 😊
