The Jewish Jesus: Reconnecting with the Truth about Jesus, Israel, and the Church

Rich depth and context to illuminate Scripture
I really appreciated this book on the Jewish context of all of scripture, and how that lens gives even more humanity and care to the person and image of Jesus. It was even more intriguing having recently visited a Messianic church, for the concert of Messianic Jew Joshua Aaron & Christian artist Aaron Shust. It was an incredible concert, and I've really gained so much by learning more about Jew & Gentile together. Knowing the original context, history, and culture truly transforms the lens in which you read Scripture & makes the Old Testament more than just some history texts you may want to pass over. All of it is interwoven and gives so much meaning and intention behind how God led His chosen people throughout time. this book was very beneficial for a deeper study of the scriptures, of the whole picture of the promise and the blessing. I agree with other reviews on the most important point for context: Jesus was a Jew, talking to Jews, about God and the Jews! Once we start to read scripture through its original lens, so much more comes alive.

Excellent, informative, practical and biblical write up of our Jewish Jesus!
This is a great read! David sets great context and is not concerned with elevating Jewish context over existing church context. He layers on the Jewish lens to help us understand why Jesus did what He did and said what He said. He unpacks the nation and people of Israel on multiple levels (a nation, a people, the apostles, and so on). He leaves us practical and biblical means to coexist as Gentiles and Jews serving Jesus. I picked it up and kept reading! Great work! It's reframed many things I just didn't know!!

A Must read to understand all scripture!
Loved this book! Well written and easy to read. The most important point: Jesus was a jew, talking to jews about God and the jews! The modern Christian must learn and understand this point to understand most of scripture (Old Testament, but especially New Testament). I've recommended this to many people and all have been glad they read this book! Highly recommend it.

Jews and Christians one in Christ
The most powerful combination of perspective and analogy. Enriched appreciation of who our brothers are in Jesus. Paul's letter to the Romans becomes greatly apparent to today's life and time.

Why it is important to understand God's heart for both Christians and Jews
Within Christianity there have long been some who teach animosity towards Jews and within Jewdom there is recognition that throughout many centuries the Christian Church has been its biggest persecutor yet St Paul in the book of Romans clearly shows that God's desire is for us to live together and not see one as being superior to the other. This book written by a man born of Jewish parents that has found Christ as his messiah gives excellent understanding that all Christians, messianic Jews and orthodox Jews who want to follow God's heart should read and consider well.

Good book
Having just read it, I can recommend it to those people in Christian churches who need a greater understanding of who this Jesus figure is as he was primarily a Jew who preached love to his followers. The church was founded in Israel and moved from there to Rome and further afield in later centuries and in the meantime developed a hatred for Jews which was irrational and gave rise to pogroms against them. I just thank God that they have their own country again and long may they be blessed.

A must read!
This is such a well written, easy to read, informative book on such an important subject matter. It's really opened my eyes to some truths in the bible that I've read so many times (and often not understood!). It has challenged and changed my perspective on the importance of Jesus being Jewish and how relevant that is to me as a non-Jewish Christian. I'd strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand and know Jesus better!
