Amos Alonzo Stagg: College Football's Man in Motion (Sports)

I have never written a review before but I know what I like and I liked this book. You could tell there was a great deal of interest and research in this book. One of the best books on sports I have ever read. Coach Stagg set the standard for modern day football. So many of the rules and even plays can be attributed to him. Not only that it was a family affair. His wife Stella even kept notes on players and plays. I could go on and on but get this book because Ms Hall is an amazing author.

After reading this book, I realized "Football" didn't just happen!!!! The author from the very beginning displayed her passion for the game of Football. Ms. Hall has a unique talent that makes you feel like "Field of Dreams" as if I was there watching each step of the way. Amos Alonzo Stagg was one in a million and this book tells why. I feel this was a well written and researched book full of so much information. The Author's note at the very beginning makes you know you are in for great story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how football evolved.

Having been a fan of football all of my life and being a history buff and major in college, I was astounded after reading this book that I never knew about Alonzo Amos Stagg. Hall captivated me from forward to closing sentence with the amazing life of this man who practically made football what it is today. I wish I could speak to some of the players and other young people this astounding man impacted over his 70 year career coaching football, baseball, track, and basketball. He actually helped invent the game of basketball and honed it to become what it is today. An incredible man, incredible story, and amazing story teller. Thanks Jennifer T. Hall for a book that educated me and inspired me to be a better human.

This book is a MUST read for college football fans. It is an engaging, well researched account of a remarkable man. Hall brings Stagg's story to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have already purchased a few for Christmas gifts!

I have had the privilege to meet this author (she is a local in my town). I bought this book for a team member of mine who met her and a family member through a business engagement. He was so impressed with her character and book, so I am now like the best boss for a day! (LOL) I have not read this book myself, but I totally vouch for the author and have no doubt this would be a great read for any and all sports fans. This book is sentimental to the author and to the readers alike. My advice: Get your nose in this book the author is awesome!!

This book is a must read for any football fan. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. Looking forward to more books by Hall.

Very boring style of writing in my opinion. This book was lacking on details and I wonder how the editor let several errors get printed. For instance, at the end of the book the author gets Einstein and Edison confused in back to back sentences. Do yourself a favor and skip this book. There are plenty other books about Stagg that are much better.

This is an amazing read for any college football fanatic!! Great insight into college football’s early days. Loved it!! Buy for yourself or a fellow college football lover!
