Insteon Smart Outdoor On/Off Plug-in Module, 2634-222 - Insteon Hub required for voice control with Alexa & Google Assistant

Already had 3 of these that have been working wonderfully for the annual Christmas display. I increased my outdoor need for a fourth and when Insteon told me they were no longer making them I scrambled to find one. While more expensive than directly from Insteon, this vendor delivered as promised. I received the new unit (brand new in original packaging) a week earlier than estimated and easily added it to the scene I had created for the display. It worked flawlessly and has been working for the past 5 days without issue.

These are great for controlling outdoor plug-in items. Two nits:(1) These have a tendency to fail after three or four years and you *will* be replacing them, so be prepared to do so in the future. I have about 4 of these outside that I bought when I built this house four years ago. Two have failed after about three years and have been replaced. Since they're outside and subject to weather, I guess that's not bad, but I do think they should last longer.(2) The most recent one had its address sticker (the one that has the Insteon xx.xx.xx address on it) on the top of the device, so it's very likely to get bleached by the sun or washed away by the rain. It would likely be better on the bottom where you plug in your device that is to be controlled, since that part faces the ground and is protected from weather and the sun.

I use this device to control power to the pump for a water/radiator heating system at our cottage. This unit is controlled by a Insteon wireless thermostat. It all worked fine for about 3 yrs. A few weeks ago the on/off module failed. It is outdoors but well sheltered from the elements, i.e., zero chance it can get wet.Rather disappointed that a $50 switch only lasted that long. It is only used perhaps for 4 months (max) out of the year when it is cold enough here in southern VA to warrant firing up this (wood fired) heating system. So after about 1 year of real use it failed. Again, worked well but failed way too soon.

I have four of these in our system. If you need a physical on/off switch for an appliance this is a good choice even if you want to use it indoors. It has a high wattage capacity so is perfect for heaters or AC units and since it is an actual switch and not a dimmer you are in no danger to short out a motor or appliance. I use them for fountains and a heater and they have been outside for two years or more without any problems. Granted we are in LA area so there isn't a lot of rain, but we get loads of fog and moisture and so far no problems. Highly reliable units that sync quickly and don't need periodic re-syncing. I wish all my Insteon items worked this well.

I have 2 of these units. One of them has been in use for about a year with zero issues. The other I just recently received. The reason I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 5 is the 2nd unit failed out of the box. It would not power up or begin to pair to my Insteon hub. I called support and they are sending me a replacement and I'm returning the device. I'm sure the replacement will be fine, but one would expect an Insteon product to at least power up and function out of the box. It's a little concerning; however, I have these products throughout my house and this is the first one that I've ever had an issue with.

I wanted something to control my Christmas lights and retire my 10 year old timer, saw this on Amazon and decided to purchase it. Over the years I've moved to a home automation system and thought this would be a good addition to the family. When it arrived, I hooked it up, linked with with my home automation system and was able to create a program that would control my Christmas lights, I can see that this will be a welcome addition to my system in the coming years.

I bought this to use with outdoor Christmas lights. It has worked reliably for one season so far. I have it configured into my Insteon system with a Universal Devices ISY994 controller.

We use these for our customers and we've had great success. Setup is not the easiest, but once setup, they're just plain reliable. They tolerate the phoenix heat all summer and don't skip a beat.

This is by far my favorite Insteon controller. I use it for our outdoor rink lights. It's so convenient to be able to control this from the phone once we get our skates on and head outside
