10 ft Offset Patio Umbrella

OK umbrella that we enjoyed for one and a half summer
First off, I have to say for $90 (the price when we purchased this) it is a good value deal.It worked fine until its broken after two years but here are something you may need to consider before ordering:1. It is a fairly large umbrella that hangs on a cantilever, so be prepared how much weight you need to put on the base to prevent it tipping over. It is like a sail - turns to the wind and pulls the mast. It does not seem to me that only a water-filled block or a couple of concrete piles can hold it onto place in those sunny but (slightly) windy days. I finally bolted it to my deck.2. The color fades - after a year of exposure to the elements the color faded unevenly - turned to dark grey where exposed. It does not bother me much though since I can not see the top surface when it is open.3. Although it is a good value deal, be realistic - it is less than half the price of the decent cantilever counterparts. So expect a lot of plastic joints and parts. With that being said, this is not a lasting furniture like the old school cast iron pieces. Plastics deteriorate over time especially under sunlight. Mine broken two days ago after a gust of wind (I would rather classify it as one of the stronger breezes of wind) after one year of "almost broken" state.Anyway, if you just need an OK umbrella for your deck/patio for the next couple of years and happen to live in a not-so-windy area, it will not fail your expectation. But your expectation should stop there.

two or three years is a good run. I believe I got this on sale ...
I've had this on the deck for a year now, I have not taken it down in the winter. So far my only complaint is that we screwed it to the deck and I consistently stub my toe on the supports. This can be fixed by getting some patio blocks to fill in the angles.Other than that, none of the plastic parts have broken, it is bleaching out however, but that is to be expected. For the price, two or three years is a good run. I believe I got this on sale when it was around $45.UPDATE: It is 2018. I still have the umbrella. Fabric has faded, but it's screwed to the deck and I leave it out 365 days a year. The only issue I have is that I've finally stripped the cranking mechanism and it won't stay open. Since I only paid $45 for it and I don't really take good care of it I don't feel the least bit upset that I have to bungee the crank down to keep it open. I've read reviews on the more expensive umbrellas and seeing more complaints - I'd buy this again, even at the full price of $75 - my only real complaint is that it's only 10' I really need a 12'

Good value considering the low cost.
Definitely light weight - so don't leave it up when you are not around. I did not like it over my patio table because the wind will make it tilt, so I moved it between my 2 chaise lounge chairs poolside - works great there as the slight tilting isn't as noticeable. I cannot compare this to others costing 10x more - so its "ok" and a good value as I am not expecting a long life out of it. I partially bought this to see if I will like this style. I did not like it over the table, but it is great for pool side shade. Oh, and yes, you HAVE to weight the base. I have two 35# barbell plates doing it for now, I noticed Amazon sells a few different weight bags you fill with our own sand, going to order one now.

this is okay -- I like it, my husband doesn't
We are trying to set this up in a somewhat small poolside area. I wanted the flexibility of being able to move the table away to accommodate more guests in the shade -- our previous umbrella fit through the middle of the table and seemed to really limit our seating arrangements and the number of people who could fit under it. So this is an improvement, in that we can move the table freely. But the base of it is much larger and much more "in the way" than it looks in the photos. And we still have to buy a base for it (sticking concrete pavers on top of it is not a workable long-term solution). My husband really doesn't like it overall. I don't like it much, but it's better than what we had, so I rate it 4 stars.

EXCELLENT BUY AND A TRUE SPACE SAVER
I built a deck at our lake house and needed an umbrella. I looked at several on line and was thinking I would buy the type we have always bought......one that fits in a table with the weighted base. I happen to see this one which is cantilevered and thought that would negate having a "fixed" umbrella. I received it and it was easy to assemble. Only thing you should be aware of is ...if you have a wood deck you will need to use lag screws to screw the base to the deck......if you cannot do that you will have to purchase adequate weight to place on the cross-legs of the base to hold the umbrella in place. Once opened it is like a roof over the deck....space underneath the umbrella is wide open for use. We thoroughly like this product!

Nice umbrella
At first I was not sure whether I would want an offset umbrella after reading some other reviews but decided to buy one anyway. It is quite big and covers well over half of my deck which is good. It does need to be secured using patio blocks on the base or bolted down completely because windy conditions could blow this over. It's well constructed except that the arm couplings are not made from metal. They're heavy plastic instead and could place stress on them in windy conditions. But for the price of this, it should last a few seasons if you take care of it properly.

Beautiful and well made!
This umbrella is so gorgeous. I was unsure because of the material, thinking id want canvas. However, now that i have this one, i am sold on the nylon. Very durable, colorfast and sleek! When its open it feels like the canopy of the rainforest over my yard:)Im so happy with this, it is lovely. Now, let me warn you- its a behemouth! The base is big! I put paver in all four corners that i got from orchard supply for a few bucks each- i have large and small planters surrounding it so it looks tucked and even when its hanging closed,'its looks like giant a tropical plant!
