Great for a little family competition!
I bought two because they are a perfect way to stimulate a little fun competition between my 9 year old son and I. I say they are perfect because no 9 year old would remember to take it off to shower/swim or remember to put it back on after charging. Thus the fact that it is waterproof and does not need a charge for a year was a BIG influence in my purchase. Arrived Saturday as described. Had all instructions and usb device to sync to the computer as well as both a large wrist band and a small. Synced to my phone and his phone (he does not have cellular service and uses it like an iPod) with ease. I have not found a reason to sync it with my computer yet. All functions are easily viewed on my iPhone. Also links to myfitnesspal which is an added bonus. No need to enter steps separately. The only downfalls are the lack of a backlight (which the vivofit 2 has), no automatic sync (you have to manually sync it periodically through the day), and no silent alarm. These are easily overlooked knowing that my 9 year old would not need them and has the waterproof no charge needed convienance. Though he is a skinny little 9 year old boy and does not need to worry about calorie control this competition has encouraged him to get outside and play rather than sitting in front of his xbox all day. He is averaging 10,000 plus steps a day and will get on the treadmill to make sure he beats me. He motivates me to get out from behind my desk and move around a bit so I can encourage him. I will be buying one for my husband next. Great purchase.

EVERYONE NEEDS ONE OF THESE IN THEIR LIVES!!!!!!
Omg...I am Soooooo In love with mine...I just purchased a 10 pack of different color bands....this is just a great purchase....It really does help motivate me....my goals change daily...slightly increasing each day...but if I have a day or two that I don't make my goal it will lower it again a little until you get there....you can have the display show your goal and it counts down...or your steps and it counts up....it can display the time...date...miles...calories burned....it tracks your sleep(its cool to see how much I don't sleep well lol)...it stays on great...haven't had a problem....its water proof...so I never take it off really...It was easy to link up to my phone....I have an android...I also downloaded an app...my fitness pal....and it automatically links up with the garmin app...so it syncs everything up...I just love love love it....I've already lost 9 lbs since I got it...and the best part is....the cost of the refurbished one...why pay more for the same exact thing....i haven't had any problems with it...its perfect...it came with all the proper packaging and instructions...there were 2 bands in the box...a small and a large...so you can choose the one that best fits your wrist ...the battery is supposed to last a year...and everything syncs up with blue tooth...so all I have to do is hold the button down on the band until it says sync...and thats it...that simple...no wires...no nonsense...it doesn't have a heart rate monitor...but you can add on later if you feel you need one...they sell one you wear around your chest when working out (which is supposed to be more accurate than your wrist )that will sync with this device...I believe its in the $30 range...but honestly...this is a good starting point...with room to expand if you decide it would benefit you...why pay more for something you may not really need...you can also enter any exercise you do...like the treadmill or snow shoveling in the my fitness pal app....

No Stop-Watch; Thought I Was Buying a Vivofit 2
The VivoFit and Vivofit2 look almost identical. I was expected a stop-watch feature. I'm not sure if I'll keep it, or return it. I would give it away as a gift, but how you need to connect with an app for it to work stinks.Edit: removing a star -- The arm-band has already cracked. My first one lasted 2 years, and then bought a replacement pack that solved the issue. This here crack is from the Vivofit 1, and I'm not willing to go down that road again.

Great deal for an excellent fitness tracker!
Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend, and he loves it! I looked at a number of different fitness trackers, including the Fitbit flex, but the vivofit really stood out. In particular, I was impressed that it is waterproof unlike the Fitbit flex. My boyfriend is an avid swimmer, so it was really important to me to find something he could wear when he goes swimming. He's worn it several times in the pool already without any issues.Another great feature of the vivofit is its big display that you can use to check the time, as well as your steps. Looking at other reviews for the vivofit, I was worried about potential problems with the band coming loose or with syncing. However, so far my boyfriend hasn't had any trouble syncing (he has a Samsung Galaxy S6), and the vivofit came with a little clasp like the ones on digital watches that does a good job of holding the band in place.Overall, this was a great deal! It's much cheaper and has better features than the Fitbit flex. I was a little concerned about getting a refurbished product rather than buying new, but the band I received looks and works like new. I saw a couple reviews that said theirs came in a generic box, but mine came in the original garmin vivofit packaging with an additional sticker that marked it as refurbished. If it weren't for that sticker, I don't think anyone would be able to tell it wasn't new!
