Liquid 5-HTP with St. John's Wort 0.3% by Innovative Natural Products (4 oz)

My 16 year old son has autism and is on the severe side of the spectrum. He had severe and frequent self injury and meltdowns. He would bang his head against the wall or with his fists.I had started him on Fish oil and Melatonin and observed him for months. It really helped. He became more relaxed and verbal. And his self injury decreased considerably, but still present. The psychiatrist then prescribed Prozac for him to deal with his anxiety. It helped at first then as the years went by, we noticed that he may have reduced his self injury but meltdowns were still happening.We told the Psychiatrist and it was withdrawn. I noticed his OCD became even worse than before he took Prozac. I had tried this 5 Htp before but had to stop it because he started taking Prozac.We gave 5 Htp to him once a day for a month and we noticed that he didn't have meltdowns anymore. Then we tried it for a week where we didn't give him 5 HTP and sure enough, when he heard his baby sister crying, he went into a full meltdown.We are now giving it to him daily and observing. So far so good.

Update: I am changing my review from one star to 4 because the product works outstandingly well. The only reason I am not giving it 5 star is because I have had a bad experience with the service. I am going to order again and if no more service issues, I may change my review to 5 star.It is liquid 5-HTP all right, and convenient for those who can't swallow pills. However, It is over-priced because it only lasts 10-15 days. My second order has taken for ever to come. I guess I am done with this product.

I put a couple drops in my Lutino cockatiels water. They're notorious feather pickers and a bit nervous in general. It keeps the self- mutilation low and when they do love nibbles - they're nibbles and not bites.

I was hoping to take this instead of my lexapro but it makes me extremely nauseous and sick feeling...cant take it. I couldn't eat or have a normal day when I took it...maybe it's me or I got a bad bottle.
