Lacking the Intensity and Magic of Davis’ Other Works
I enjoy Barbara Davis’ work. This book, while still a lovely read, telegraphs the resolution much too early in the story; there really was only one satisfying conclusion to be reached, and it took a long time to get there. This character-driven story began interestingly but soon settled in to a more mundane pace and theme. I felt like the book completely changed direction about a quarter of the way through. The complex, damaged, hurting protagonist seemed to suddenly turn into an avatar of “Modern Woman with Baggage,” a story we’ve all read too many times already.Ultimately, the story lacked the intensity of Davis’ “…Old Books” and the enchanting, haunting mystery of “The Last of the Moon Girls.”Davis is a good writer; this story was simply lacking the sparkle I’ve come to love.

A Bit Slow, But Good
This is a story about one woman's struggle.with an abusive past, and her inability to overcome the pain. It ends with her ability to accept love and give it in return. It took a bit to get through the long struggle, but in the end it was worth the time to read.

When Never comes
In the pages of "When Never Comes," Barbara Davis has spun a poignant and deeply affecting tale of love, loss, and redemption. The novel delves into the complexities of relationships, the power of secrets, and the human capacity for forgiveness. From the very first chapter, Davis draws the reader into the world of the protagonist, Christy-Lynn, a successful author whose life takes a devastating turn when her husband, Richard, dies in a tragic accident. As Christy-Lynn struggles to come to terms with her loss, she is forced to confront the painful truths about her marriage and the secrets that her husband had kept from her. Davis masterfully weaves together multiple timelines, slowly unraveling the mystery of Richard's past while simultaneously exploring the depths of Christy-Lynn's grief. Through her evocative prose and vivid characterizations, the author creates a rich and immersive world that is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

Well done! A joy to read!
Aside from a few triggers in this book, I found it to be engaging and full of surprises. Although some of the storyline is predictable, the author has done a great job of building complex characters with an intriguing plot.

Lost in Paradise
Heartache’s a plenty with insights to match. Insights that take you deep into your own psyche I recommend to those who can drudge through the dregs to finally end on a happy outcome
