I would say I have an average adult head… Female if that matters, and without a wig it sat down on the tops of my ears and flattened them out like butterfly wings… Considering that I embellished the hat for Mardi Gras, the resulting weight of that wasn't all that comfortable until I put my wig on.Then it's it's fine .. really fine.. I wore it to an outdoor party and had it on all day and never felt the need to take it off, but be aware that unless you have an adult male's head, it will flop around on you and cover up half of your face. So I would not recommend it for children! You can add a foam strip to the inside, if you're going without a wig… That might help.

Love this hat, nice to wear and looks good

I have a larger-than-average head and it was a perfect fit for me, but for my partner, it slid down and rested on his ears! I think this could be easily fixed by gluing a piece of craft foam along the band for smaller heads. The hat has a nice weight to it, like a real hat rather than the stuff I usually find at a party store. The color is definitely more of a deep indigo-violet than crayon purple. I ended up using some watered down paint to do some color matching with my costume, which was crayon-purple. I got lots of compliments on it!

Bought this hat for my son for our wedding. This hat it a great color. However the inside feels more like a thick party hat material under the fabric. I will say that after the initial disappointment that it was more flimsy it's been a month since my wedding and the had hasn't lost its form and my son is rough with it.

My 5 year old son has recently discovered the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies, the original, and the new ,weird Johnny Depp one haha Anyways...he loves them. My son was using a tupperware bowl as the hat while pretending to be willy wonka, so I found this on amazon and surprised him with it. He loves it! Good quailty for play, he has been wearing it everywhere lol. I would recommend this for sure, best few bucks I've spent in awhile, my little guy loves this willy wonka hat.

This hat is too small for my normal-sized head, a weird color of purple (not a rich, royal purple, but more greyish-purple), and not as tall as the pictures make it look. To add insult to injury, when I printed the return label, the instructions said they are charging a 20% restocking fee! This was NOT mentioned when I filled out the Amazon return form. Don't trust these people, they're a rip-off.
