Wole Soyinka's 'Forest of A Thousand Daemons: A Hunter's Saga', is a marvelous translation of D.O Fagunwa's 'Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmole', a bewitching literary journey into the vast, fantastical world of Yoruba mythology. The translator's deep understanding of the culture within which the action is set, and the sheer elegance of the language with which he sets it down, undoubtedly establish this translation as a major benchmark in literature. Read it.

Wow. Nothing beats this book for authentic folktales that reveal candid & thorough-going misogyny. Just wow.

A great read. Missed some original phrases from the yourba copy. Not sure much could be given that yoruba is a much richer and descriptive language

Akara ogun the main character is lengendary...fun read.

Made me reminisce on my secondary school days when I read the original Yoruba language version. Very absorbing. Recommended for all. It's simply incredibly well told story.
