Mediterranean Knotted Lace (Milner Craft (Paperback))

For a beginner, this book is just easy to understand. What is written in this book are the basics. In addition, there are several motifs to knit and patterns for doilies. With this book, I think I can learn the basics of Armenian lace.

Very detailed. I wish there were more images of thread and needle, but this is still the best book I've found for this style lace. Lots of diagrams and projects. Will give you a firm base for the craft.edit, 2016: I suggest this book every time a video of Oya lace comes up on my fiber facebook groups. Still an excellent resource!

If you are interested in learning how to make knotted lace, this is the book to get. I initially purchased Armenian Lace by Nouvart Tashjian and got this as a follow up book--should have done it the other way around. Dickson includes numerous diagrams for every step. Her directions are clear and concise, and she also includes a brief section for lefties with sufficient diagrams and instructions (which, as my fellow lefties know, is rare indeed). There are a wide variety of patterns to practice with. This is a splendid addition to every lacemaker's library.

IF YOU WANT TO LEARN NEEDLE LACE,THIS IS THE BEST BOOK YOU CAN GET. IT STARTS FROM HOW TO AND GOES ON TO MORE COMPLICATED DESIGNS FROM THERE. IT TELLS YOU HOW TO MAKE STITCHES SMALLER OR LARGER AND GIVES PLENTY OF TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON THE RIGHT TRACK. IT ALSO TELLS YOU WHAT YOU MAY BE DOING WRONG IF YOUR STITCHES ARE UNEVEN OR TURN OUT BAD. THE VERY BEST FOR A BEGINNER AND GOOD FOR THOSE WITH SOME EXPERIENCE TOO. LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS!!!!

I haven't tried anything yet, but I think if I you tube for live demonstration while following the instructions, it should be good.

Well written guide for someone interested in learning how to make this form of needle lace. The only thing that would have made it better is a companion DVD so you can see the techniques.

This has to be the best written book for learning the knotted needlelace techniques of the Mediterranean region. It has good clear illustrations and instructions and is well organized, presenting the steps and added techniques in logical order. The examples are beautifully stitched and photographed.

I ordered this book not really knowing the technique used in this book. I was looking for another technique.I will keep the book for now and maybe one day give it a try.

Well written with very good and easily understood technique description. My only complaint is I'd like more patterns, as sometimes the pictures are really too simple to fill the page, it seems. Hence one star less.

great book with very nice photographs. the pattern diagrams take some time and patience to get used to though, so complete beginners should see some videos for the basic stitch and then refer to the book which makes it much easier.
