Manual of Clinical Psychopharmacology

Great psychopharmacology text - a nice complement to Stahl's text
I'm a psychiatry resident and bought this as a supplement to Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology. In a nutshell, this text is much more focused on the pharmacology than the theory behind the pharmacology (as seen in Stahl's text). I prefer the style of this text to the Stahl text: this is much more "practical" and focused on guidelines for using the medications rather than theoretical considerations for medications. That's not to say that the latter isn't important - the two texts (both of which I'd recommend) are just different in their goals. My only complaint about this text - not enough to lower the rating, but more just something to be aware of - as that littered throughout the text are "recommendations" provided by the authors that they freely admit are based on their own practice habits rather than any evidence-based practice. That doesn't make them invaluable, but I just don't see those types of guidelines as appropriate for what is more or less a reference text. Just be mindful of these things when reading the text and they won't detract from the otherwise excellent quality. In short: a great addition to the training or practicing psychopharmacologist, both as a reference text and a source of review.

Falling Apart at the Seam
Bought this book not very long ago in preparation for a research project and the spine has now completely separated from its cover! I would totally request for a refund or a replacement as I would not consider this to be an inexpensive book, but I need this book now for the research project. Appears the glue used to hold the book together was inferior and forced now to look for ways to keep the book together before the pages begin to start falling out. Such a waste time and money!
