SchauerCharge Master CM6A Maintenance Battery Charger

Bought this for my main Camaro SS battery: Odyssey Extreme 75/86 PC1230.In September my car died while driving, dash flickering and all.Opened the hood the battery was super hot to touch, car was dead won't start so I figured it just had a short and the battery is dead, 5 mins later it started but the battery was never the same again....it only held a charge for day or two and I can't start again, it was only 2 months old !I bought a Diehard 2A charger but it wasn't up to par and took a whole day to charge from just 11.7v (which is where my battery would drop to) this CM6A does the same job in half time on 6A and about 24hr to 💯% on 4Amps but both on a fully depleted battery or at 6v+ !1A setting is good for a "topping off" Maintenance charge only.All this is cool and regular stuff, where this Schauer really shines are its battery recycling abilities, Odyssey is a dry AGM battery and has AMAZING abilities to hold a charge (2 years when new), even with a fried cell.Over the last 2 months I dropped the voltage to 0.5v by leaving the lights on for a day then plugged this CM6A as soon as the battery recovers itself past 6v on 4 or 6Amps and charged it to 💯% (deep cycle discharge procedure).After 2 months of repeating this process not only it allowed me to use this almost worthless (or so I thought) battery but also allowed me to recover it to a point where it holds well past a week, with cool 30-40°F nights. !I'm simply stunned, a gel or calcium battery would have been unfixable in this situation.2021 update: A single deep cycle discharge done every 2-3 months keeps my wounded battery in top possible shape, after winter the car would start very slowly, I swapped out my 19yo starter - nothing.....this charger saved the day again, 3 deep charge cycles from 0 to 14.2V and the battery and even my old starter are still working fine!So in the end this ~$70 Schauer saved me from throwing away a $308 battery and all I can say is: this is the best charger money can buy if you own an Odyssey Extreme battery, it will do wonders charging it, plus it look very nice as well !You can't go wrong with this product 👍

The one pictured is 2/4/6 amp, the old model. I actually own one of these and wanted another. The vendor sent me the newer model that is 1/4/6 amp. I like the new model better. One, I think it is more energy efficient, two, I like the readout better. it indicates the status better of what the unit is doing. As far as the different amperage, I don't think it matters, if you need the extra amps it just powers up to the higher output.

Recommended by Odyssey for my Motorcycle battery that appeared to be failing. It rejuvinated the battery back to normal. Previously I was using a Battery Tender Plus, which they do not recommend for their type of batteries and which would no longer properly recharge the battery completely. This one desulfated the battery and now the battery works great. If I had know about this, I probably could have rejuvinated my previous Odyssey motorcycle battery, even thought it had lasted almost 5 years.

Needed a charger for Odyssey PC625 battery in my plane. This charger works well. It offers an AGM battery option and charges at various amp values. Outstanding!

I purchased the Charge Master on the recommendation of a friend who keeps his Porsche hooked up to it when not driving every day. I have found it to be what I needed and works well although I have not had this model for very long (I have another different model Schauer battery minder). I have an older twin-battery BMW that will draw down the batteries in 10 days if not run. The Schauer keeps the batteries charged without any damage due to overcharging. A good unit for the price.

Contacted one of the two major AGM battery manufacturers for their reference so I wouldn’t risk the loss of the warranty. This one is one of only a few they spec.I’ve since bought a second unit. Standard, cheap, trickle chargers will kill a standard AGM battery!!

I have about 8 of these chargers for keeping my truck batteries charged at the shop over winter. I also use them for charging the kids toy batteries as this is a much better quality charger than the ones that come with them. I also like being able to charge at 2-4 or 6 amps as I need it. This is an excellent battery charger. It may not be as user friendly as others because the user has to "set" the charge rate (2, 4, or 6 amp) and the battery type. But it remembers the "selection" the next time it is power up. Charging status is indicated by one "two-color" LED (blue = charging, green = charge completed). This charger has six amp capacity such that the user can charge a battery at a faster rate at the beginning then it automatically switches to a lower current and finally a float charge. Therefore, it is very forgiving in case if the user forget to dis-connect the charger from the battery. I have a very short drive to work daily and plan to use this to top off the battery every other night. this should extend the battery life. The charger comes with a "quick" connect cable. User can permanently connect a mating cable to the car battery for this "maintenance" type of topping off the battery.
