My Jack Russell Terrier couldn't kill this to
I gotta say, I never write product reviews, and I had to write this one. I have a CRAZY jack russell - she tears through or gets bored of toys in minutes. We've had this for a couple weeks now, and she goes nuts when I turn it on. I actually caught her in my zoom camera, behind me, slinking up onto the dining room table like a little thief to steal it while I wasn't watching it. (while totally wild, she does have good manners. usually.)The little squirrel tail only lasted a day or so - it's attached to the ball with the plastic thingies they use to attach tags to clothes. so it didn't stand a chance. But the actual ball part of this is remarkably sturdy. She has smashed it into walls, drug it down the concrete sidewalk, dropped it down stairs and it keeps working. I have no idea how. I have to open it up to turn it on because the switch broke off. It's totally mangled inside, but somehow still works. This is the best dog toy I've ever purchased.

Piece of junk
The media could not be loaded. The battery holder was so hard to get through the screw was stripped. I had to pry it open and the casing that holds the AAA battery was so tight. The battery didn’t almost even fit in the cylinder casing. It was extremely hard to get the damn thing to work. The weasel is held on by two plastic tag holders, which one of them is already pulled out so we’ll see how long it lasts for the weasel to be attachedAnd my dog won’t even play with a toy he took a few looks at it, jumped at it barked at it and that was it. He doesn’t play with it anymore and he’s about ready to tear the weasel right off the ball may as well just have the weasel and gotten rid of the ball.I was so disappointed because the toy looks so cool. I’ve been looking at it for years and I finally buy the damn thing and it’s a hunk of junk.

Weasel not attached very well at all
This is not long lasting. The weasel is attached with a plastic string like price tags at stores that just pop off. Might work for cats or teeny chi dogs. My small dog would have pulled the weasel off in minutes. Returning it.

For supervised play only, but even the Lab loves this thing.
If your dog is any bigger than a pocket poodle, this thing will fall apart before your eyes in less than a minute, because the first reaction any self-respecting dog will have is to shake the "rat" until the ball halves split. There's a rubber O-ring between them, and if your dog swallows it, well..let's say you may end up making a nice contribution to your veterinary surgeon's retirement fund.My solution was to wrap the two halves together tightly with electrician's tape, and fasten the little furry rat-thing more securely to the ball with a short wire instead of the thin plastic binder it comes with. Then watch her like a hawk while she's playing with it. Other point - the little on/off button sticks out too far, so when the ball rolls or the dog mouths it, the action shuts off. Minor problem, but like I said..the key here is "supervise, supervise, supervise!".And I'm not expecting it to last very long.

Fun toy for dogs
Got this for my senior-ish dogs, 2 big, 2 small. One big one doesn't care about it at all.My big boy is interested but it's unsure and runs away, lolMy big little dog also doesn't really careMy tiny Yorkiepoo loves it. She picks it up by the weasel and drags it around. It's the Yorkshire terrier in her wants to hunt rodents I guess. It's a sight to see and at 11 years old I'm very happy she is interested and has some mental stimulation as well as exercise.

Not built for dogs—fragile, underwhelming, and frustrating to set up
This toy didn’t hold up at all. The weasel is attached by a thin string that wouldn’t last more than a minute with most dogs, and the plastic ball doesn’t move enough to keep a pet engaged. The material also feels questionable—definitely not something I’d want my dog chewing on.On top of that, installing the battery requires a tiny screwdriver, which makes setup more annoying than it should be. Maybe this could work for a very gentle cat, but even that feels like a stretch. I ended up returning it.

Ours is Willy Weasel!
This toy has survived eight months with a Bassett Hound puppy. Incredible! Now he tosses through the air so we no longer play by the TV.

My cat did not like the noise of the motor. He did not trust it.
The motor noise scares the cat. I even rubbed catnip on the “weasel” and while it did get him more excited, as soon as I turned it on he was not so excited. So I then took it apart very slowly, allowing him to watch. And watch very intently he did. But he just will not play with it while that motor is running. Also its path is just circles. And you have to take it apart and remove the battery in order to turn it off. And on. In order to turn it on you have to push the battery back into the compartment and close the cover. As soon as you do that, the little motor starts turning around in circles inside of the ball. You have to stop it with your fingers in order to screw on the other half of the ball. In other words, it’s a pain in the rear end to turn it on and off. I ended up breaking the weasel off of the ball in order to turn it on you have to push the battery back into the compartment and close the cover.
