Best value for a high end jump break.
Over the years I've owned and sold a dozen or so J&J jump break cues, bought about 50 cheap sneaky petes in bulk and added one piece phenolic tip/ferrules to them and sold them all as break cues, used an original Mike Gulyassy Sledgehammer Break Jump Cue, bought and sold the Rage 25oz break cue, and this PureX has been the best one so far. Often times a jump break cue is a good jumper and a good breaker but not as great as a dedicated jump cue and a dedicated break cue. This one is a candidate to challenge that rule.Everyone at my local pool hall who has tried it thinks it jumps effortlessly from a ball width away or from 3 feet away from the jump ball. The tip allows quite a bit of english to be put on the ball while jumping as well so jump draw shots are somewhat easy. It's a solid breaker as well. Just make sure all of the joints are really tight. It's hard to beat the performance vs price ratio of this cue.

... a couple of months now and I've been extremely happy with it
I've had this for a couple of months now and I've been extremely happy with it. I love the three piece butt design and have taken advantage of the flexibility many times.AS A JUMP CUEThe jump handle alone works well for short jumps using either dart or normal style. For longer jumps, you can add the center extension for a little more control. The quick release joints are nice, so you don't spend a lot of time rearranging your parts.AS A BREAK CUEThis is a fantastic break cue *if you hit the center of the cue ball*. It hits like a ton of bricks, even on partial speed breaks. The phenolic tip doesn't do so well on off-center hits, but you shouldn't be off-center on a break shot anyways, so this is not a negative in my opinion. I love the rubberized handle, it's very comfortable and gives me a ton of confidence. One interesting option is to remove the center extension and break with what I call the "shorty" version of the cue. I'm average height, and it is still plenty long enough for me to break with this way. Because it weighs less, you can get a little more speed on the break. I vary my configuration based on how I'm feeling and breaking that day. You are also supposed to be able to jump this way, but I haven't had any luck with it.FINAL THOUGHTSThere are certainly better dedicated jump cues out there, and there might be a better dedicated break cue (although that is hard to imagine), but I firmly believe there is no better Jump/Break combo on the market.
