I particularly liked the story of Terry Fox running across Canada
I have spent several very enjoyable evenings vicariously adventuring with this book. In manageable and well constructed short chapters, this accessible and lively book is full of interesting maps and pictures. As well as the well known voyages which one would expect to be included there are some totally new to me adding extra colour and interest. I particularly liked the story of Terry Fox running across Canada. The lack of obvious chronology takes the reader on an ever varied journey round the world from the depths of the ocean to the farthest corners of space and adds to the sense of adventure. An interesting and inspiring read!

Great selection of well known and little known expeditions beautifully illustrated.
This was a birthday gift so I can't really comment on the content. However, the recipient tells me he is delighted with it, finding it of great interest throughout. Having only browsed through it myself, I can say that the real life adventures, explorations, challenges and discoveries are diverse and exciting. The book is beautifully illustrated with amazing photos and maps and the short annotations as each story opens, gives the reader a brief summary of the expedition's endeavour, the dangers faced and the legacy or outcome of the expedition.Definitely a book I would like to read for myself and to purchase again for future gifts.

Fascinating and inspiring book!
Fantastic book! A real joy to read - images are brilliant and the stories fascinating! The story about Terry Fox was an inspiring read - learning so much about unsung heroes of the world. This for me is a super coffee table book - I love the fact that I can pick it up when I get a few spare minutes and read when having a quitet moment with a cuppa. Would thoroughly recommend this book to everyone.

Carelessly mislabelled photo of Tom Crean not Ernest Shackleton
Disappointed to see Tom Crean’s photograph mislabelled as Ernest Shackleton in this otherwise interesting book. Given Shackleton’s Expedition one of better known - careless

A great book to pick up when you have a few ...
A great book to pick up when you have a few minutes and a cup of tea in your hand. The book features an interesting selection of stories human endurance, bravery and ambition. I like the mix of well known stories and those I had never heard of. Pictures are beautiful and I like how the stories are a few pages long.

Great book for young readers and olders
It was a birthday present and it was well received by a 12 yr old, who has been hooked to it since. I have reserved it to read it next. It is a good book for anyone who loves to read about human adventures.

short stories of amazing exploits
This book contains short versions of some of the most incredible exploits in history. Each separate exploit can be read in about 15-20 minutes, making it suitable for short bursts of reading.
