It's working great ... so far!
I've suffered from sinus infections chronically for years. The East Coast is not kind to those of us with allergies and I've had hay fever since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, as I have aged the frequency of my sinus infections has increased beyond the standard Spring and Fall seasons.About five years ago, I read about nasal irrigation. So I bought the bottles of saline solution and gave them a try. I experienced real relief. However, those bottles are expensive, so I would stop using them after the condition would clear up. Of course, after a while, the sinus "problems" would return.A few years back, during a sick day, home in bed, I read about using neti pots and the daily practice of sinus washing as a preventative. So I got one of those. They are o.k. but I always have to tilt my head to the side, then the stuff gets into my upper sinuses and, I guess, my ear, because vertigo would ensue. Not an encouragement to using the irrigation on a daily basis; which is bad. In order to prevent the chronic condition of sinusitis it's best to keep your sinus passages clean. Finally, I discovered the Hydro Med sinus irrigation machine. Recommendations stated it did the work of getting the saline solution up where it needs to go without the head tilting I found necessary. It worked great and I used it for about two years.Unfortunately, despite cleaning it after each use, and pouring vinegar through it on a regular basis, it's motor burned out. So I tried going back to just using a neti pot, but the vertigo came back big time. That's when I decided to try the machine again. When I came across the Sanvic machine it looked enough like the old Hydro Med to be it's clone, but it offered a place to hold the irrigation tips (I got the "family" model) with a lid to cover them; I liked that feature, plus it came with a two week supply of the saline premeasured packets. The price on those supplies is good, too; I've shopped around, and the packets works well. I use twice the amount called for (a hyper-tonic solution rather than the standard isotonic ratio) and there's been no burning, no stinging. And my vertigo is starting to go away as the machine does the work and gets the solution up my nose with out my having to tilt my head to the side.Another feature the Sanvic has, besides a cover lid for the tips, is I like my flow on the gentle side so I just leave it at the first setting, but there are three more strengths for those who like a stronger flow. And they do work, I have tried them. And since it's a button that you push, not turn, I think that is a plus. So, if I do only get a year's worth of use from this brand, I'll still be satisfied, because what it has saved me in doctor's office visits and co-pays, and pharmacy prescriptions, never mind, the pain and discomfort of sinus infections, is worth more to me than the $117 I paid for it.Oh. Another benefit is I get my husband to irrigate more frequently now that I have the machine. He didn't like the neti pot so his snoring had gone back to buzz saw strength since the old Hydro Med had died. Since the Sanvic was delivered two weeks ago, my nights are once more quiet. And that's a real benefit, too!In connection to the snoring, I am not an expert with the condition known as sleep apnea, but if snoring is supposed to be one of it's symptoms (as I keep hearing from a family member) then my husband is reaping a benefit even though he does not have allergies, nor does he ever experience sinus infections. And, finally, even if you don't have chronic sinus problems like I do, or have a snoring problem, like my husband, it's good to have one of these machines around for when you are cleaning out the garage, attic, anywhere there is dirt, dust, and the possibility of rodent droppings about. We've been cleaning out the garage the past few weeks, and it's a must, after coming in from sweeping, etc., we fire up the irrigator and cleanse our sinuses before sitting down with a cold one.UPDATE: 28 May 2011, It's been more than a year and the Sanvic irrigator is still working as good as the day it was delivered.A great product that has made my life so much better.

Two Stars - Given ONLY for design
I purchased this machine in hopes that I would get a well-made product. I was using a Grossan Nasal Irrigator previously. However, the stupid thing traditionally breaks down after about a year. I liked it, however, because it had a strong pressure that would clean a stubbornly dirty nose (I have TERRIBLE allergies).I am one of those individuals that will instantly get a sinus infection. I have suffered with terrible sinus infections for the last 10-12 years. I have had a tonsillar abscess, surgery, and a host of other problems resulting from my illness. Thus, I need a GOOD irrigator with a strong pressure and a well made design. When I received the Sanvic machine, I was pleased(at first). When I attempted to use it, the pressure was WEAK. The lowest setting has the most pathetic pressure. I wondered "How on earth could anyone irrigate with this low pressure?".I like the design, since it is stronger and has a container closure for your irrigator tips. However, that is all I like.I recommend that you do NOT purchase this. The pressure was just to weak to clean the nose. They need to fix that issue ASAP if they want a successful product.

Week Stream
This doesn't have a strong stream at all not even on high. Have left seller a message waiting to see if they will let me exchange it for another kind. Don't know if they will or not. Had a Grossman before it was a lot stronger stream even on a lower setting than this one on high they only problem I had with the Grossman was it didn't last but maybe a year was hoping to find another brand that last longer but I would rather have another Grossman than this one. This one's stream not strong enough to even clean you nose on high stream might be ok for a kid if nose not too stopped up but not for adult. Please Amazon let me exchange this not my fault stream is too week.

Excellent Machine!
I've had this nasal irrigation machine for over 10 years. It's worked perfectly and has saved me numerous times from sinus infections and allergies. It has 5 settings for pulsating strength, 5 being way to strong for me, but the other 4 are great.

Stopped working after 55 days
Worked fine while it worked. Maybe this is the one lemon out of a million, but the last nasal irrigator I had was used daily for five years before it broke. This one was more expensive and didn't last two months. Next time I am going to go with one of the ones sold at National Allergy.

Wonderful, my husband and I both love it. I feel like I can breathe better. No more nasal spray. We were impressed.

Works great, easiest way to irrigate children's nasal passages
I received a free sample of the Sanvic Nasal/Sinus Irrigator to mention on my blog (Naturalmomsblog). It’s an electric device for nasal irrigation, sort of like a Water Pik for the nose ;)UPDATE: The 8-year-old munchkin boy has a mild viral infection, and our family doctor recommended that I use a neti pot with him. There’s no way he would let me use a traditional neti pot, so I used our Sanvic Nasal/Sinus Irrigator. It “tickled” him at first, but worked extremely well to ease his congestion. This is definitely a winner for kids!Pros:* very easy to use, even on young children* can be shared by family members, because you can order one tip for each individual. Child-friendly tips are also available* adjustable flow strength, so beginners can start with the lowest setting then move up as they get more comfortable. I find the medium setting is good enough for me. I never need the highest setting.* nasal irrigation is completed a lot faster than with a neti potCons* expensive* requires counter space* requires warming up water* requires washing after each use and sanitizing occasionally - In other words, it's not as easy as nasal spraysThis review originally appeared in Naturalmomsblog.com
