Great for playful trail riding. Suited to tall riders though
The problem or deslike I had with my 2015 Trek Fuel EX 7 29er 21.5 inch frame with stock handlebar is that they were too low and too narrow.Being 6 3 with all the length coming from my legs I always have to ride a bike that is either too low or too long. I decided to go for a bike that felt a little low but was on the money in terms of length and then customize from there to my liking. My preferred riding discipline is all-mountain/enduro riding with most of my focus on gravity descending trails. I thus needed a bike setup ergonomically for steep technical trails (Open cockpit and neutral standing position that is wide and aggressive with a central centre of mass). These handlebars with their generous 40mm rise and 760mm wide length provided the ergonomics of my taste as a taller rider. The angle of the bars feel natural and aids to comfortable standing on the bike. Subjectively 760mm wide is in the sweet spot for control and trail side tree clearance. The handlebars are light and the build quality looks good (time will tell). The higher rise gives you a little more mechanical advantage over the front axle allowing you to easily unload the front wheel allowing for great precision during pumping, bunny hopping and jumping. This characteristic does however rob you from some feedback from the front wheel, but it is a worthy sacrifice. The handlebars are adequately stiff and rigid but are a little soft compared to really high end handlebars (allot more expensive), but nothing that will make you loose touch of what your bike is doing. The higher riding position does make the long ride to the trail and the climb to the top more taxing, but if you addapt your riding style accordingly you will hardly notice a difference. In terms of styling... it's rather in your face and it's very much a case of you love it or you hate it. I'll let you decide. To conclude. If you are a rider who finds your bike too low in the front and you enjoy some air time on your bike while descending your favorite trail, I highly recommend this handlebar. It does not bust the bank and it is a premium product. If you are looking for the last word in feedback and accuracy from your handlebar I would look elsewhere (but expect to play allot more).
