Chia Bia all started in 2009 when co-founder Barrie Rogers discovered the power of chia seeds when he suffered a back injury while in America. The seeds were recommended to him as they were known for their anti-inflammatory properties and Barrie was willing to give anything a go as he was anxious to fly home with such pain. On stocking up on chia, the pain in his back had disappeared within a couple days and he was able to go home, sitting comfortably on his flight. Chia Bia is based in the sunny sea-side town of Waterford on the south-east coast of Ireland, Chia Bia started by providing chia seeds to local shops.
