GaiamRestore Total Body Massage Roller

This is an awesome roller that I bought for my personal use to roll out the knots in my calves from running; the cost was $13.53. My wife, a seasoned physical therapist, has a name brand (The Stick with a smooth rolling surface) muscle roller for $27 but I like this one much better. The roller core is a sturdy steel and the rollers have grooves that seem to 'massage' the skin gently as you roll out the muscle knots and adhesions from running or walking. The only slight negative I can think of is that it makes a periodic squeaky noise when rolling; however, this is a non-issue for me. I also bought the massage roller by Seek Gains. It was $25 but and seems to be built very strong also with a steel core but I don't care for the smooth rollers as much. I just ordered another Gaiam roller for out PT clinic since it is a must have.

Roll away the kinks, tightness and soreness...Oh my! I almost returned this for a cheaper model, but I am so glad that I didn't. I've enjoyed all of the products that I've purchased by Gaiam through the years and I'll add this massage roller to the list, because it seems to be designed well, and it does exactly what it is designed to do. It works as well as using a foam roller, if not better for loosening tight muscles and providing better range of motion. It's also the perfect size for a gym bag or travel.

I got my husband one of these about 6 months or so ago but it was slightly different; having a rubber roller that stuck to your skin a bit and seemed to hold sweat and/or oils from skin if you rubbed it directly rather than over clothing. This plastic material glides really easily and more comfortably. I play a lot of tennis and have a LOT of tight muscles. My massage therapist said this was a must.

The rollers are made of very hard plastic, and so it is not too comfortable to use other than for very light massage. Massage isn't about comfort, so this is not too big of a drawback. Also, the handles tend to work their way off the ends of the rod that goes down the center. On the other hand, it is functional and a great price.

It works well but it is noisy and squeak sound can be annoying !

I was given a picture of this by my orthopedic doc, got on Amazon and found it and ordered it. Voila, I had it in my hands 2 days later, easily massaging my leg where necessary. The roller is easy to hold, self-pressure can be whatever you like and I thought the price was very reasonable.

Hallelujah, where have you been all my life?!I began an 'adult beginner ballet' class and was so sore after my first week that I could barely walk. Before the next class, I ordered this massage roller and used it right after class on my legs. I had ZERO PAIN the next morning! I have used it daily now on my legs, neck, shoulders, and feet and I absolutely love it. I cannot suggest it enough.

I had a knot in my right shoulder that I was able to use this roller to work out. What a relief.

The rolls are plastic not rubber like material which makes it too light, therefore you can't really feel it massaging/creating pressure to the muscle. As a registered massage therapist I wouldn't recommend.
