Kahane on the Parsha

A mixed bag.
A mixed bag. As an addition to other commentators, the book is worthwhile. It cannot stand alone, however, without skewing one's understanding of Torah. I read the chapters in Kahane on the Parsha weekly along with other commentaries on the weekly Torah readings. Sometimes the Kahanes use insightful analyses of authoritative commentary on or from Mishna, Talmud, midrash, etc. and other well-known sources to make worthwhile comments on particular Torah portions and in cogent support of the Kahanes' political viewpoints. Other times their articles constitute basically diatribes against particular Israeli government policies or non-rightist Jews - rants that do nothing to enhance understanding of Torah.

Something different -- and better.
This book came to my attention a few weeks ago when my local Reform rabbi, at her weekly sermon, spent nearly the entire talk bitterly criticizing this book and saying that Amazon should not support its sale. She said that it was racist, un-Jewish and glorified extremist nationalism. Given that I like to look at both sides, I decided I would give it a look. I found it to be quite different - an eye-opener - from just about any other present-day Jewish writing. The Kahanes write in a clear, honest way, that is almost impossible to contradict. Given that I am new to all this, I just wish that the book gave more information on the author (I would like to meet him or her!). Also, a Source Index would be helpful, as I am interested in reading more from the Kahanes.

Kahane clarifies Torah as Hawking simplifies physics!!!
Every Jew should have this book on Dvar Torah. Both Meir and Binyamin Kahane were brilliant in connecting the Parashot with obligations of today’s world. Amazing works!

'Kahane on the Parsha' allows a glimpse into the minds of two of the greatest, yet most maligned
More than just insightful, the Kahanes were modern-day prophets. 'Kahane on the Parsha' allows a glimpse into the minds of two of the greatest, yet most maligned, Rabbis of the 20th century. Their interpretations of the parshiot are chilling when we see what is happening in the world today. I highly recommend reading this book.

A must read for every believer
This book makes a great read. Both Meir Kahane and his son Benyamin have been gone a long time, but their statements ring true today as ever. Will be a good read for open-minded individuals, as well as those that disagree with Kahanism's point of view.

The Moshisch that wasnt to be!
One can CLEARLY see, in light of what is going on in Israel today what he had to be assassinated. His son and daughter-in-Law too. A must read for anyone who wants to catch just a glimpse of what COULD HAVE BEEN.
