A classic not so well edited

Meister Eckhart is a mystic and a saint who transcends traditional religious bounds. I read Eckhart in order to get a direct connect to him, so that I could imbibe those messages that would help me grow. I was initially a little disappointed while reading this book because this book's presentation tends to be more intellectual and less of 'heart-connect'. Nevertheless, I did learn more about the life of this saint. Once I got used to the way of the book, I also started picking up the personal messages that I sought.It is good that this Christian mystic is becoming known in our times because, Eckhart is very much like Jellaludin Rumi, the mystic of Islam who lived close to Eckhart's time and the ancient yet pristine Vedanta of Hinduism. Eckhart stood for the universal quality characteristic of true spirituality, which is often missing in all our ordinary religions. This book is instrumental in propagating that worthiness.

As my first introduction to Eckhart , I was very impressed with this book. This mystical teaching is Spirit realization opening material at its finest.. His emphasis on God as Oneness fits well with Buddhist thought. Although steeped in Christian language, it is non-duality teaching at its best. I would highly recommend it as one of the deepest spirituality teaching books out there.

Absolutely fanastic, a divinely inspired collection of writings that will touch the heart of anyone called by the voice of God and truth.

My thoughts are that if you are going to start anywhere with Meister Eckhart then this is as good a place as any to begin your journey. Other books are few and far between and not all that easy to understand. The mystical vision of the German Meister Eckhart has engaged many thinkers from Hegel to Heidegger and many modern day spiritual teachers. Reading Meister Eckhart is challenging to say the very least and it would probably be wise to undertake it when you are already on a strong spiritual path, you need to have many key questions answered in order to begin engaging with Meister Eckhart. When you do begin unravelling his deep and profound wisdom it is contagious and rewarding.
