I love this thing! Haven’t had one black boogey since I’ve been using it. And the headaches are gone. After 9 hours of on time the battery still has a bar or two left. No reflections from behind, and the clarity is amazing!Before I had a speedglas 9100xxi and a Lincoln 3350 4c. I liked the speedglas better for tig and stick, but the Lincoln was better for me for mig. Well, you can choose the tint on the g5-01, so I can switch depending on how I am feeling. It’s so clear I find myself forgetting to flip the auto dark up to fit at times.With the hood adjusted as close to my face as possible, the weight doesn’t feel much worse than my old hoods. It will slip down your brow a little, like all of my speedglas hoods have.You can adjust the airflow so it points wherever you want. I can keep it away from my face for the winter, but as it gets warmer redirect it to kinda cool me off. It’s still a confined space inside, so when it gets really hot I can see myself removing it more frequently.It’s definitely narrower than the 9100 series. I have some slim ear muffs that won’t fit under without flexing the hood, which kinda sqeuuzes you head then. That and the neck/ear protection aren’t so great. I’m gonna get the extended neck coverage, or the apf1000 kit to remedy that.Oh, and don’t fart with this hoods down. It comes straight at ya!

Excellent. Far better than what I had. Spendy but you get what you pay for.

This is a great welding helmet and the fresh air is awesome and very adjustable. However, it is very pricy. It should be no more than $1200

Happy with the G5-01,The filter is amazingly clear,the hood is well balanced and airflow from the adflo can be adjusted to your liking,I ware it up to 8 hrs a day in a 10 hr shift with no discomfort,.if you weld in production it's money well spent.

I have the speedglas 9100fx air, m-409SG, and the g5-01. I like the color option on the g5-01 over the 9100xxi but if your a shipbuilder welding all day the color almost goes unnoticeable over time. You can get the g5 really close to your face and can be a little more comfortable in narrow spots. Being able to adjust the air direction is nice especially when it gets really hot or cold. With the 9100fx the air goes directly to my nose and lips causing runny nose and chapped lips when it gets colder but can be minimized by putting a diffuser over the air duct.I do prefer the smoothness of the 9100fx flip up over g5-01 stiffness that you have to hold the shield while pushing up the lens until it snaps up. I also like the side view of the 9100fx that the g5-01 does not have. My biggest complaint on the g5-01 over the 9100fx is no matter how I adjust the headgear it doesn’t feel like it stays on comfortably and no matter how tight I tighten the knobs on the sides one side will remain loose coupled with how floppy and springy air hose is connected to the back of headgear I have to constantly adjust shield so it straightens out. Especially annoying while welding long runs on an open root and you start to lose vision because shield is starting to tilt from the most minor movement.My overall pick is the 9100fx for the overall stability it has remaining on your head and not having to waste time constantly adjusting. If you’re more into the color of your lens and adjustability of the air direction go with g5-01.

My battery on my 3M Speedglass is defective. It worked for a few weeks and today it just stopped working. Customer service has been no help at all. Was suppose to receive a email on how to go about replacing it but the email never came. Now I’m bout to be out of more money.. don’t waste your time.
