Expensive but worth it!
I have tried many pepper grinders over the years and finally found one that provides consistent grinds every time.

Expensive but great quality and grounding smoothness
Initially I doubted about spending so much for a pepper grinder, however, I never imagined up to what level a so simple gadget can be well thought so as to deliver a superior experience seasoning your meals. You'll never regret on buying a Peugeot grinder.

Works well, classic looks, but...
As above, it looks for real, and definitely grinds pepper. The adjustment range is from subatomic to medium/coarse, and at least 80% of the range results in some grade of fine dust. This probably accounts for the reviews calling it "slow." Normal table pepper is about the second to last setting. The settings are continuous, so you have infinite control. The adjustment ring is not wood, but a pressboard material of low strength, which I discovered when it toppled from my countertop and creased/cracked. This doesn't seem to affect performance, nor is it getting worse, but it clearly won't endure much dropping. The combination of a heavy wood and metal construction, with the soft, exposed adjustment ring was not a great decision, and a little disappointing at the price.Another quibble is once you look inside, it's clear the mechanism is supported by a plastic frame. This was bought to replace a decades old mill with a crank mechanism, for which the crank handle finally fatigued until it broke, but it works perfectly still if one turns the nub. I might repair it, as it would serve multiple lifetimes. This mill simply will not, as the plastic will eventually wear and break.Overall, this is a good mill that will serve you well, but it probably won't be the last one you buy.

Peppermill To Last a Lifetime
The Peppermill comes pre-loaded with black peppercorns (some reviewers were worried they'd gotten a used peppermill). Invented in France in 1842, there's a great video on Youtube showing how these peppermills are manufactured and the history of Peugeot. I got the 7" chocolate colored u'Select model, and the color is very dark and matte - not shiny. Easy to use, just dial your preferred grind at the bottom (numbered I to IIIII), hold in the middle and turn the top clockwise. To refill, unscrew the gold ball, take off the top and add peppercorns. Very happy with my purchase.

Well built grinder
I had the same grinder in the larger size for 20+ years. It unfortunately got damp during a household move. This smaller one is still built as sturdy as the original. Obviously I refill this one more often and regret not springing for the larger size. It's expensive but worth the price.

Holy Smokes!
I've never had a peppermill work as good as this. The adjustment is at the bottom unlike other pepper mills. There are six settings on the piece that rotates on the bottom but you could adjust the grind to any size in between. No more cranking and shaking to get the peppercorns to come out. This peppermill is without a doubt the best you could get from my experience. If you've been frustrated with the way the pepper Mills you purchased in the past have performed, this one will absolutely amaze you, trust me you won't regret it.

This is well-made and does not stop working.
Pepper mills need to be tough. They need steel burrs to grind black peppercorns - and the central shaft needs to me made of steel too, otherwise after a year or so, they become rounded and stop working. Wasted a lot of money on them. This Peugeot mill costs a fraction more but actually is fit for purpose.

Great quality
I'd bought so many pepper mill/grinders over the years and had been so disappointed with so many. I decided to pay a bit more for this one after reading the reviews. Very happy, it is real value for money!

This is literally the best (and last) pepper mill you will buy.
This thing is well made, has 5 simple grinding levels and is very sturdy. You simply won't find better at this price point. Don't procrastinate, buy it!

The best of the best...
What can I say? You won’t find a pepper mill as good as this. I hear these last forever so... you get what you pay for and for a few extra dollars this is worth its weight in gold. It has six settings and they work perfectly., you can grind in between settings as well. I use way more pepper now compared to my old mill, I love spices specially pepper and the amount of flavour this extracts from each peppercorn, wonderful... fyi instructions say you can only use peppercorns, Sichuan pepper and Coriander seeds in it, that’s it.

Great Product But....
The peppermill itself gets 5 stars for quality. I didn't want a big peppermill so this was the perfect size. I especially love that the coarseness selector is on the bottom, independent of the tightening screw on top. And it grind a lot of pepper will little effort. My old peppermill needed 4 or 5 turns to grind what this mill does in 1 or 2.My only complaints are with Amazon for several reasons:1) The peppermill came packed loose in a box with no paper or bubble wrap to protect it. The peppermill wasn't damaged but see next point for further explanation.2) I also ordered the matching salt grinder that came in a different shipment after receiving the peppermill. It came in a sealed bag with the product sticker on the outside and in a shipping box with packing paper to protect it during shipment.3) Because I also ordered the salt shaker that came preloaded with coarse salt, I realized that the peppermill was missing the pepper (it states on the tag the quantity and origin of the pepper that should have been included).4) The lack of bag and included pepper makes me think this was a return. I don't really have a problem with a return as long as it still functions but when it is missing part of the product and is shipped unprotected, I'm not a fan.
