DON'T TRUST ANYONE
I'm an avid fan of both these authors. This was a fast paced mystery with deception, murder, the mob, bad politicians and cops. There's more to the story than first told. Don't trust anyone is a good way to describe this book. I loved all the characters and how all the different stories came together perfectly- its what keeps you turning the pages. There are no irritating "filler " pages. Just a really good interesting story that you just have to keep reading.

Fast Pace murder mistry with great hero leading you down a long path full of double cross killers.
If you think you have this one figured out, keep guessing as the killings pile up and you don't know who will be the last man standing. Very easy read set in a fast-paced story of journalism with the writer chasing all leads to get to the truth. Recommend reading for a wild ride through the Mafia underword.

Excellent as expected!
More than I expected. Interesting characters. Fast pace switches between crimes/danger. Expanding problems and disasters. Good guys who share life events. Good guys who may turn to bad. Had guys from many varieties who may work together or set up other groups of bad guys. Family members are included. Love relationships that start, stop or reverse. So fast pace and hard to putdown.

Nice Easy Read, Interesting
This was my first James Patterson novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The opening was graphic and I almost put the book down. However, once I was introduced to Nick Daniels in the first chapter, I found the story interesting and face paced.James Patterson immerses you into the life of New York writer, Nick Daniels. After a near-escape from the Sudan, Nick is offered the writing assignment of a lifetime. But he soon discovers there's more going on than just an interview with a has-been Yankee pitcher. Interrupted by a gruesome murder, Nick discovers he has a vital piece of recorded evidence from the murder. Debating whether to tell the police, Nick weighs the ramifications of his decision, that could lead to retaliation.I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it an easy read, perfect for late night reading. Although not worth $14.99 for a Kindle version. (I purchased locally). That's more than the hardcover price ($14.00)!All in all, I enjoyed the book and my Book rating Reflects the Quality of the Book, -- not the unfortunate pricing.

Not at all like Patterson.
It took me forever, many chapters to get where it was interesting. I kept thinking it had to be a different author. Finally good past middle to end.

DON'T BLINK by James Patterson
New York's Lombardo's Steak House is famous for three reasons - the menu, the clientele, and now, the gruesome murder of an infamous mob lawyer. Seated at a nearby table, reporter Nick Daniels accidentally captures a key piece of evidence that lands him in the middle of an all-out war between Italian and Russian mafia forces.James Patterson grinds out yet another wonderfully suspensful murder mystery that keeps you spellbound from the first page to the last. This was a really fast reading book, as are most of James Patterson's adult mysteries. It was a real page turner, difficult to put down.

Blah.
I started with the "free" Kindle edition, a quote-book-unquote. That was annoying enough for me - not a book but the first chapter (shills) - getting what was advertised as a 'first book', then realizing it was no such thing. The story though, with a totally unrelated/irrelevant opener (do-gooder journalist runs from gunfire in the wilderness of a foreign country), a first-person narrative presenting yawn after yawn (could this guy get any more boring?), and unremarkable/hackneyed satellite characters, left me not only NOT wanting more, but wondering how on earth Patterson was persuaded to put his name on this. THAT is the real mystery. Two words sum this 'book' up: Don't bother.

Not great but held my interest..........
While I can't say this is one of Patterson's best (I like his Cross and Bennett books), it was an easy read, suspenseful at times, romantic at times, and gory a couple of times. I definitely would not call it a thriller as it did not thrill me or excite me. Although it held my interest, it was not a page-turner. It was simply written, repetitive at times, with only fair dialogue. There were several twists and turns which helped pick up the pace at times. I'm not sorry I read this book, but it was not one of the great Patterson books. The Kindle version was well-formatted with no errors that I noticed.

Unexciting.
As another reviewer noted, it's unnecessarily big due to the big print and the writing style was almost written for a child. I just couldn't get into it as I was forever turning pages and finding this too distracting. After 2 goes I gave up halfway through. The characters didn't grip me either! Sorry JP this wasn't up to your usual standard.

I Didn't I Couldn't I Daren't
Gritty Gritty crime drama from Mr Patterson telling the adventures of a young journalist who jumps out of the frying pan into the fire almost literally. My gran used to say don't go looking for trouble it will find you all by itself. A story of a lifetime comes his way and he can't throw it aside or so his editor tells him. Before he knows where he is he is witness to a horrific murder and becomes a person of interest very quickly. Yeah you guessed it he finds trouble Big Time and he is left running for his life. Problem for Nick is he does not know which is up and which is down ? who to trust and ? who to fear. His one constant the love of his life is engaged to someone else can she help? will she help? and who will he put in harms way? There's a great balance in this book good story with car chases, gun fire, planes, trains and automobiles, love, fear and a little bit of crazy for good measure. I was on the edge of my seat and could not put it down. Well worth the read and the time it takes you to do that.

big print
No one likes to squint trying to read small writing..but this book was written in such large type...usually associated with children's books. Normal print would have made the book 100 pages lighter. The plot was reasonable..but..when an author has to mention his previous books in the story....it's time to stop.

A page turner
A very racy fast_paced read. Unfortunately it often stretches credulity to breaking point on several occasions but it's still sufficiently gripping to hold your interest. Would make a pretty decent action movie.
