Stopped working after a year.
Love it! I have been using this for several months, the power plug just stopped working, it lifted it up and it started working again but I am concerned. Having distilled water is wonderful, we have hard water. It makes 1 gallon. I have humidifier’s and a small fountain, distilled water is perfect for them. Sure beats paying for it at the grocery store, that’s if they have it! My next one will be a 2-5 gallon distiller. 8/2021 purchase, it’s 2/15/2022 and it stopped working, just keeps turning off. Ugh…

Distiller died in 2 months, and has 'drippy' carafe
Revised review: after 2 months of light use (~ 2 times per week), the unit has failed-- the distiller shuts off after running for 20-25 minutes.Original review:I liked this distiller compared to the ~10 year old unit that it replaced. Water capacity is larger, the seal between the lid and the distiller body seems better because of the rubber gasket (it's too early to judge durability). The fan is quieter and the distiller seems to run a full pot of water faster. All good! What I don't like: minor niggle: the water spout (into which you put the filter) doesn't seem to want to stay attached to the distiller lid when it is taken off the distiller. More often than not, the spout detaches and it along with the filter fall to the counter or the floor. A minor annoyance. A more major issue is that the carafe on this has a spout that is too short. When you are pouring from a full carafe, water-- a significant amount of water-- will run down the outside of the carafe. It doesn't matter if you pour slow or fast, the water will leak. You can minimize the leak by making sure that the plastic lid is down (so you are pouring against it), but still a full carafe is likely to leak.I am convinced that the 'lip' or beak of the pouring spout is too short and that the issue arises because of the amount/pressure of the water in the carafe, since the problem disappears once about 1/3 of the carafe has been drained. But until then, either pour over a sink or be prepared to sop up a 4 or 5 ounces of water that has run down the outside of the carafe.Based on the Amazon ads, I suspect this is not unique to this particular model or manufacturer-- it looks like all similar units share the same design (and possibly carafe maker). That is one thing my older unit had going for it-- leak-free pouring!

Works Very Well, Cleans Easily
After about 40 pots, here are some observations:*It takes about 3 hours to complete a cycle, which produces about 3 quarts of distilled water. We live at 7,000 feet elevation where water boils at about 199 degrees Fahrenheit, so it may take a little longer to get a full pot closer to sea level. The unit is relatively quiet; the decibel meter app on my phone reports 40-45 decibels while the unit is running. The fan has recently become a little noisier, but I suspect I just need to clean/inspect/lubricate the fan.*Cleaning is a snap with the included bottle of cleaning agent, however the included bottle is small, only enough for a couple of cleanings. I cleaned after about 20 pots, and it took two cleanings to get all of the scale off. We have hard water (+/- 150 ppm), so I wipe residue out the interior of the unit with paper towels after each cycle to minimize full cleanings. I purchased a 32oz container of cleaning agent separately, which I think, based upon my current experience of 20 pots per cleaning, the container should last for 200 pots. At our on-going usage rate of roughly 2-3 pots per week, 32oz of cleaner should last for more than a year.*The unit uses charcoal packets to freshen the water after it is distilled, and the unit comes with two packets, as I recall. I purchased an additional bag of 24 charcoal packets, which, based on our expected usage, should last two years (one packet per month).*Our primary use of the unit is to prepare drinking and cooking water. We first filter our tap water through a Berkey water filter unit, then mix 1.5 gallons of distilled water made with the distiller to 3.5 gallons of filtered water to reduce the hardness to a more civilized 100 ppm, then run it through an ionizer to raise pH to 9.0. We use a water chiller to dispense. Did not last a Year
Don't Waste your Money. First off, this thing is BIG and takes a lot of counter space. It is also noisy with the fan constantly running. It also puts out a lot of heat. this is ok for the winter time but not for the summer. My family would not drink the water bacause of the way it taste. I used it for myself. This worked ok even though the fan was noisy. However it stopped working about 8 months after I bought it. The thermostat went out and the unit starts to boil until the thermostat shuts the unit off while only making about 6 ounces of water. For what I paid it would have been cheaper to buy gallon bottles of water at the market.

Faulty product but EXCELLENT customer support
My distiller worked fine for about a month, but then it suddenly stopped working entirely. Vivohome was kind enough to process a full refund, and I am very happy with the customer service I received. Perhaps the unit I got was defective, but I had my money returned to me in full without even having to return the product, so I am very grateful.

Quit after 2 weeks
The black circular switch seems to resist any attempts to press it when the lid is on, so I expect it would break some time soon, if this machine was still working. Yesterday it stopped working and I think the problem was overheating because although the fan was still working, the air it sent out was suddenly cool and the machine itself was much hotter to the touch than usual. I've now reviewed so many buyer reviews from people who report early breakdowns for one reason or another, and some people receive used distillers with missing parts and all of this leads me to believe that the company producing these little counter top distillers used several faulty parts and doesn't care about its reputation or about the safety of those who use their products. One person included a photo of the burned out bottom of her machine and that was scary to see. But the machine is relatively easy to use and Amazon is happy to pay for the cost of returning it and giving me a full refund, so, if Amazon doesn't mind losing money and some Chinese manufacturer is happy to have dozens and dozens of very negative reviews, well... I could say that I gained a few gallons of distilled water for free and can't complain too loudly.... The lid that came with the glass collecting carafe is plastic, and since the lid collects condensate and re-deposits it back into the carafe, I would say that it's a mistake to use the plastic lid, as hot distilled water will leach toxins out of plastic. I switched it up for a steel pot lid, leaving it sitting sideways on top so that the dripping could continue. Not ideal, and I get the feeling that this technology is new and still undergoing development. A decent machine costs about $750 and is available from an American company called Aquanui. Check them out, they have a sale on at the moment.
