Mid-life stays true to the close and intimate way Elinor looks at the world and shares with us through her lens. She allows us into her private space without reservation. Mid-life is bolder, more direct and less romantic than her previous work, which is appropriate for the subject/name Mid-Life. The images are sometimes disarming and surprising, referencing the unexpected changes that occur without notice, regarding the body, the family, the altered perspective, but beautiful as a collection of work. Kudos to Elinor for her honesty and courage to share this work. Bravo!

Photography by its very nature is limited to showing the exteriors of things. It takes a gifted artist to present images that pierce straight into the soul of her subjects, so that one reads their spirits as though written in a treatise. In this brave collective self-portrait Ms. Carucci records her exploration of the transition into middle age with honesty and and incisive sensitivity.

This is a very intimate self-portrait about womanhood in middle age. I have followed Carucci's work since she published Closer and as soon I read about this new publication I got a copy. The images and narrative are very touching and help to understand other aspects of life, like femininity, love relationships, health issues among others. The quality of the paper is very good and the printed images make this book a great item to collect. I got a second copy of the book and gave it to my mother who loved it and is using it as a coffee table book.

It's heartening to see a great photographer push herself to new limits about a challenging subject, middle-age. Facing that reality, she pulls out all the stops and adds breathtakingly to an already fascinating, intimate narrative of her life.

This is a beautiful, complex look at the reality of being a woman.
