Mil-TecUS Style Waterproof Poncho Ripstop Hooded

this was large enough for my chunky frame (21 stones worth) while carrying a ruc-sac. Use it mainly when I am out walking the dog for when the rain catches me out. seems tough enough, it is waterproof and is actually very comfortable even if it makes me look a little strange :)This is a follow up to my initial review which I wrote after the first couple of weeks.I have used this repeatedly since purchase because when I am at work it covers me and my PC backpack, and when I am out with the dog it covers me, my dog bag and keeps me dry without much in the way of condensation. I have also used it a small number of times as a tarp to go over my hammock and I used it once as a ad-hoc shelter when the weather closed in and trapped me on the moors in Yorkshire. This was a not a real survival situation as all that was required was protection from the weather (poncho 2 walking poles and some Para cord) a hot drink provided by my trusty meths stove and a little patience, in truth the dog was more bored than I was and insisted that he needed to torment the local bunny population :).All Ponchos seem to be of a uniform size which for me makes them a little small. Based on my usage I would like to seem them all around 10 cm wider and 20 to 30 cm longer which I know will increase the price but I believe it will make them even more useful. perhaps a poncho XL?? if anyone sells one of these please do let me know :)In terms of the use I have had however I have found it to be useful and resilient to wear and tear easy to maintain (wipe it over when it's dirty) it is a multi-use flexible. it has even served as a picnic sheet and as seat padding while waiting for the 5:30 am train allowing me to sit without freezing my butt off :) I would heartily recommend this anyone.

Purchased for Download festival which should be renamed to downpour festival. This fantastic Poncho was a life saver. This was got as a back up poncho to be able to keep in my pocket for days when I didnt want to take a coat around with me all day. Although rather heavy and a large size when folded down it fit perfectly into myh short pocket.The ability to un-pop both sides of the poncho to make into a ground sheet is a neat idea and adds to the useability of the item. The material is a heavy duty Nylon that you don't have to worry about ripping or putting a hole in.The poncho worked wonders and was fantastic for the whole festival and did a superb job of keeping me dry head to knee (being 6'2"), the hood I have to mention is huge, perfect to go over a hoodie hood with no issue of it getting wet.The only damp patch that seemed to get through was the chest area where there is some stitching where the water has been able to pass, again after the amount of rain I was very impressed with the very little amount that did get through.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to. Took it to a very showery festival, kept in a small rucksack. Takes about 5 seconds to put on, covering everything, which is the key advantage of a poncho over a raincoat - nothing gets wet. Also easy to take off and repack once the rain has stopped.It’s a little bulky and very heavy compared to the lighter offerings but it’s well worth it... this thing is very robust meaning no worrying about ripping it or tearing it even when using as a ground sheet to sit on. And the extra thickness means it really is waterproof. But not breathable. If you’re going to be active while wearing it then eventually you’re going to get wet from the inside!After 5 days of frequently being put on, taken off, and used to sit on there’s absolutely no evidence of any damage. A quick wipe and it’s as good as new.If you want to stay dry while hiking etc then a good, breathable, waterproof would be the way to go. If you want to stay dry while stood in a muddy field... then this is perfect!

This product is perfectly adequate given the low price - how much can you actually say about a waterproof sheet with a hole in the middle? Having said that, it is quite a lot heavier than advertised. I weighed mine (yes, I know, very sad....) and it comes in at 630g, not 375g as advertised, which is a bit irritating given that I plan to use it on rain forest fieldwork and every gram counts. I'd appreciate a more honest product description. Having said that, very lightweight ponchos flap around and are clingy, so maybe it's no bad thing that it is a bit heavier. Otherwise, it's pretty robust - poppers down the sides, capacious hood, various laces and draw strings and a nice little stuff sack. I am sure it will do the job.

Quite heavy due to it’s “oilskin” lining but the weight helps not having it blown off. The lining makes this incredibly water resistant although it is very humid inside and perspiration is the payoff. The length is very good and sitting it covers just about everything and standing it is mid calf length. This from an over six footer. The hood does open out quite a lot but a baseball cap helps in being able to turn the head without the hood staying straight. Wearing a baseball cap also stops runoff dripping into your eyes.Ideal for keeping dry and quite snug in all but hurricane weather.

This black poncho seems quite sturdy and is probably ideally suited to festivals or just standing in the rain somewhere. I walked briskly for 11 miles wearing the poncho, in continual rain, expecting the free movement of air beneath the poncho to stop any water vapour from condensing on the inside. Before walking very far, the inside of the garment was very wet with condensation, and at the end of the walk, all of my clothing was as soaking wet as it would have been had I not worn any protection from the rain.

I went through a ton of reviews to try and find a heavier poncho that is fully waterproof after having had a few that fail.I have left this one drapped over a chair, with bags sitting on the chair while I was walking around in my rain jacket and rain trousers only to come back and find the chair completely dry in heavy rain. It was there about 3-4 hours and everything inside was dry.Yes it is slightly heavier than other ones but it is great as a poncho, as a cover for items during the rain as you set up your tent, and it can really work as a shelter in emergencies. I would trust it for that.

生地はしっかりしていて、多少の雨なら完全に凌げます。ホントは、ＯＤ色が欲しかったのですが、価格面で、機能的には何の変わりもないブラックが圧倒的に安かったので迷わずブラック！マットな感じなのでチープさは感じません。わたしは、USポンチョライナーと結合してシュラフカバーとしても使っています。真冬では、これだけでは寒いと思いますが春以降なら、キャンプで使えるし、シェルターにも展開できて多機能レインポンチョだと思うので私もそうですが軍幕キャンプなんかにはもってこいだと思います。もちろん、車に入れておけばいろんな、もしもの時に役立つと思いますがマイナス点を上げるとするなら、ちょっと重いかなくらいです。
