Large capacity in a small vise
I bought this because it's got 6" capacity in a precision 4" vise. It's on a small hobby vise. I didn't want to go over 4" jaw width, but occasionally have to work on some wide parts. So this takes care of that. It's beautifully made. My one complaint is that the Tegara name plaques fell off after a couple of days. They are not mechanically attached, just glue. It's almost like the factory expects people to take them off. However, the surface under the plaques is pretty rough. I haven't decided what to do yet. Yes, I would definitely buy this vise again.

Impressed
This is a faithful knock-off of the Kurt D688 vise. The construction quality is very good. There is nothing wrong with the ground surfaces. As to where it was made - they are very careful to not say anywhere on the vise, packaging or paperwork. The removable handle feels cheap (but works fine.) I'm impressed by the rest of the vise. I'm not sure why they put the scalloping on the sides - it's just decoration.

IF you are looking for a light weight cheap vice keep looking!
Made in Taiwan, NOT China!I got the 5" model and it weighs 45 pounds. That's fine for my uses, but might be too heavy for yours if you need something for a drill press. This is a machinists vice! This is a decent vice that closes squarely, doesn't lift too badly when clamping and operates smoothly. It better be pretty good with a 10 year warranty! Tegara did a decent job where it matters. For a bench top mill, this is a good option. If I have a complaint, it's that I'd like to have a rotary base for it and I have yet to find a Tegara base.
