Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Robert Zemeckis is out with another motion capture animation movie, A Christmas Carol, the Charles Dicken's classic. Stylistically, it has a very similar feel to his earlier movies, Beowulf and The Polar Express, probably due to the hyper-realism recreation of scenes and characters.The concept art for this movie is created by production designer Doug Chiang and his group of artists at ImageMovers Digital, a studio run by Robert Zemeckis and Disney specializing in performance capture and CGI.There are plenty of art on locations and cool architecture since Charles Dicken's story was set in 1840s London. You'll see sets like Big Ben clock tower, Scrooge's English house, city streets and the other sets used in the animated film.There are also character designs, some miniatures, sculptures and 3D renderings. Not surprisingly, the 3D characters resemble their life voice actors, who are Jim Carrey (except for old Scrooge), Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins, and Robin Wright Penn among others.Author Diana Landau has included commentary on the production process with interviews from the director, actors and artists. It's interesting to read about how they approach performance capture, character development, and making various artistic choices.The Art of A Christmas Carol is a very decent companion to the film.(More pictures are available on my blog. I apologize for taking so long to review this book, but I was new at Amazon shopping. This book has been really enjoyable to read and look through. I pull it out every Christmas because I'm am fascinated with the story. It arrived at my door very fast and was in perfect condition. Thanks!

If you like these type of books it will be right up your alley. Pictures are gorgeous. Plenty of info on the movie and how it was created.

This book was in perfect condition! It's filled with behind the scenes to the movie, history of the art in the making, and how Dickens came up with this wonderful story. I would recommend this book to anyone!

If you are a fan of the movie and of Dickens you will enjoy the book taking images from the movie. Well-written and illustrated it brings the story of Scrooge to life. Great background material on how and why the movie was made. A nice addition to my library!

This book is a favorite at our house. If you like the movie, you will love the book. The book is well made and the illustrations are stunning. This book includes artwork not seen in the movie. Very interesting book.

Splendido libro illustrato sul bellissimo film d'animazione di Robert Zemeckis.Metto qui 5 stelle perchè, nonostante sia un prodotto usato e la sovracopertina un po' logorata con piccoli strappi agli angoli, le condizioni di "usato" sono assai più accettabili. L'interno è perfetto. Ho messo 3 stelle a un altro prodotto dello stesso venditore proprio per incoraggiare da parte di questi la vendita di libri usati ma in condizioni più adeguate (il libro su E.T. non era all'altezza della descrizione fisica). Per il resto prodotto impeccabile nella realizzazione e comparto visivo magnifico.

I enjoyed this book it's a great companion to the movie. Nice images on thick paper. I found a few printed a bit too large so it became slightly blurry. The character design is very interesting here. I would have given this a 5 star had the description been more accurate for my copy of this book. Mine did not include any gatefolds or ribbon.

state of book was not as described: cover was worn and not good, pages were ripped... not worth the price unfortunately.

After about a year of sitting on my shelf collecting dust, I threw this book away without properly reading it. There was no good original material in it. I was expecting beautiful development art but instead most of the pages are filled with CG renders. I was a little disappointed.
