A classic, well spoken
Tom Sawyer (and Huckleberry Finn) are books I somehow avoided reading all my life. I decided, as a homeschooling parent, to add them to my middle-schooler's curriculum this year with the Audible feature so I can listen to them, too. My student hates to read aloud, and we are coming off of a literature-rich curriculum where I was reading aloud a lot and my throat wanted a break from that. We are both enjoying this book (not quite at the end yet). The Audible reader sounds a lot like Hal Holbrook who played Mark Twain on stage and screen, so he navigates that old Missouri lingo like a natural.

A Child's Quixote...
No doubt this is one of North America's classics due to its scope and enjoyability. A bildungsroman that depicts clearly the mind of a child of the times; The Adventures of Tom Sawyer will have any reader find delight in the simplicity of times past. Its main character's problematic conduct leads him to the most astonishing adventures and problems that only good will may help him avoid. Amazing and fun since the very first page. The source and father of many books in Latin America, the one that comes to my mind: "El juguete rabioso".

Physical copy is done great!
Seeing the reviews. It looks like they really screwed up the Kindle version. I purchased the physical copy because it's for my son's homeschool. I can assure you since I am reading it aloud to him that there are no weird additions in it. Well my copy at least. My son is 12 and begs me not to stop reading each day. We laugh at how superstitious these boys are! Everyone i think knows that Tom sawyer is full of the N word and a few other curse words. But ill mention it just incase someone didn't realize that. I used it as teaching moments. Like I said, pretty sure everyone realizes that but just in case.

Bait and Switch
I haven't read this Kindle edition yet. What I am reviewing is Amazon's bait-and-switch scheme to get me to buy it for $2.99 instead of the $0.00 edition I ordered. This book, of course, is long since out of copyright. But besides that, I ordered a Kindle edition that had no cost. To verify this, I would point out that Amazon never asked me to okay a payment. Whenever I order a product from Amazon (which I do frequently), a page comes up asking me what credit card I want to use for payment, and I confirm the payment in that way. No such page ever came up for this purchase, for a very good reason: there was not supposed to be a charge. But when I finally received confirmation of my order (the next day, by the way, which is suspicious because my order confirmations are always sent right away), a $2.99 charge had been applied to it - presumably to whatever card THEY chose to charge it to. My call to customer service was wholly unhelpful, but I would caution others about buying these "free" Kindle editions.

TERRIBLE FORMATTING!
Wish I would have read the one star reviews. This book is the size of a magazine, has no page numbers, and is poorly formatted (one page will have text half-way down, and then it continues on the next page. Some dialogue is also formatted incorrectly. ) The formatting is so bad, it interrupts the flow of the book I have taken good formatting for granted until I bought a book with terrible formatting (this one.) I will be purchasing all of my books from a legitimate publishing house next time.

Typical Twain
It's good to reread the classics now and again. It takes a while to get used to the language, and the first third of the book is a little slow but it is worth working through. The intertwining of Huck, Becky , Tom's adventure provide suspense. Twain of course keeps it humorous with the occasional zinger of wit. Hard to put it down in the end.

One of my childhood books... but rubbish print
After more than 30 years I still remember at dialogue level parts of this book, despite of the fact I read it in a foreign language. Mark Twain is a classic. I bought it for my 10 years old son and he read it in two days. Brilliant book and will recomend to any child. However, 4 stars due to the printing material not the book itself (which is 10 stars). It was printed on very chap paper similar with the ordinary ASDA multipourpouse copy paper. If anyone read tis review I advise you 100% to buy this book but not this printed version. If you can find a better quality is a book to have it for generations in your library.

Beautiful pocketable edition of a book full of great children’s adventure stories and fun.
This is a superb little edition of this great book. The Book is beautifully produced with a hard back binding and nice thin paper.Very easily carried in a pocket. However, if you haven’t read the book itself, I recommend it. Great stories, full of boyhood adventure, imagination and fun. All children should read this book and the follow up Adventure of Huckleberry Finn.It also nicely introduces subjects which it is good to discuss sensibly with young people without getting into hysterics.

Do not buy this paperback version.
DON'T BUY THIS VERSION. Great source material but this is a terribly published print. Its cheap (why I bought it) but not worth the terrible print quality. Many sentences do not flow and miss out words. Tiny text (shown in comparison to a normal book in photo). This review is about the paperback version, I don't know about the ebook version. Read this classic through a properly published version NOT this one.

Macmillan Collector's Library
I purchased the MacMillan Collector's Library Edition of this book: they are very compact, hardback editions - smaller than paperbacks - and come complete with dust jacket and ribbon page marker.Print may be too small for some; I find it perfectly readable, myself.

A great read.
Mark Twain has always had an ability to make even the seemingly boring plots, a boy’s life in the 1840’s, into a thrilling masterpiece that keeps you on your toes at every turn of the page. May be a bit childish at times but, in my opinion, that just makes it an easier read than other of his works since you can just enjoy it as you can a movie. Perfect for even a younger audience (though remember some language was usual back then that isn’t accepted now).
