Superb and enjoyable movie made

A 1940s classic in which Humphrey Bogart and two partners, down on their luck in Mexico, aim to get rich by striking it mining in some untapped spot. Director John Huston's own father played the wise old timer who leads the younger two in their pursuit of gold in the sierra, winning one of three Oscars for his acting. Bogart is also excellent as the paranoid Dobbs.About 10% of the dialogue, I reckon, is in Spanish, and not all of it is translated, but don't let that spoil the show for you. The DVD has a documentary and a commentary track as well as the trailer.Not a romantic tale, actually a tense story of suspicion, mistrust and good luck coming as an interim between bouts of bad.Good show.

Bought as a gift for a happy recipient. Saw it on T.V. years ago, one of Bogarts classic films.

No dislikes. This is one of my favourite films. The quality is good bearing in mind the film was made in 1946

One of the most entertaining films I've ever watched! The story is based on universal characteristics, making it a great piece of moviemaking.Whatever culture you were brought up in, wherever you are from, you can not fail to relate to the main protagonists.This is truly one of the all-time greats.

Classic movie. Superbly acted by the four stars including Sr Bedoya who played the definitive Mexican bandit. "I Don't need no stinking Guns!!" was a tribute to him in Blazing Saddles, many years later. Bogart played Bogart superbly , Tim Holt and Walter Huston were excellent and Walter was ahead of his time when he told the others to repair the damage done to the mountain from extracting the gold. Good bar fight too!

It is a brilliant movie and should be part of anyone's collection. It shows how greed can turn rational people into suspicious, money grabbing, violent people. Its a great adventure to be had by all.
