yes, you need to purchase a mini-sd card, but it is motion detection activated.

Q: Can i save video to a cloud storage or do i need a sd card?

the cloud is a pay service with the camera purchase after purchase you can sign up, otherwise you can save pictures to your phonier just buy the mini SD
