John Mayer Anthology - Volume 1 (Piano/Vocal/guitar)

This book...and others like it...are useless to most of us. If you are a piano student, who is being trained in the "classical" style, with no regard for ear training, and you ask you teacher if you can learn a John Mayer song, than this is the book they will get you. It's useful for advanced site readers have weeks to prepare and memorize these notated pieces note for note.However, for those of us you play lounge gigs or fancy house partys, these books are useless. Each song is spread of 6 - 12 pages, making it impossible to easily see the song structure and chord progressions needed to "fake" our way through it. The chords are in a fairly simplified form, which is nice. The notation is of course accurate. So my problem isn't exactly with THIS book, but with this whole style of notation. When you buy a "best of" book, you want each song on 1 or 2 pages, in a simplified format, so you can fake your way through it at parties when people throw requests at you. This book does not allow for that.People don't want an exact piano transcription. They want something that can be easily read and played. This book is not for lounge pianists or guitarists. It's for classically trained students who are preparing a song for a recital.

On the cover of this book it says "piano, guitar, vocals", and it does have all three of those. The problem is that the "guitar" part is just the chord changes. No guitar tabs. Not even the guitar notes. Just the chords. So while this book is indeed accurate, if you are looking to learn the guitar part of John Mayer songs, do NOT get this book. Instead you'll have to go get one of his other books, but make sure that the book is "play it like it is" before you order it!!! otherwise you'll get a dummied down version of his music.

I have room for squares, and my Girlfriend bought this Anthology book for me. I compared several of the same songs in both books, and like the other reviewer stated, this is basic chords. If you can read music u can play along, but its not detailed.this book is a simplified version of his songs. dont buy this if you wanna REALLY learn his stuff. Get a "play it like it is" book. More work, but the ending result will make you much happier.

Faltam três coisas nesse songbook:Não estão os solos de guitarra, não diz de qual gravação corresponde a transcrição e indicar nas cifras a montagem correta dos acordes conforme o John usa.Seria bom também Que a versão kindle permitisse um zoom mais adequado de algumas partes que ficam difíceis de ler.
