Unfortunately both of the 2 5/8" shackles failed on their first uses. In both cases the pin was pulled completely out and the spring was lost. The gate on one of the shackles actually deformed and no longer mates with the pin slot. The shackles were used as a quick release to disconnect a harnessed in person from a pulley/rope hoist that raised the person up for the start of a rope swing (this was not used as a critical safety component, so its failure did not endanger anyone). Its stated weight rating should have been more than adequate for the minimal static load it was subjected to. Unfortunately these shackles were a flop. They feel and look nice but if you have a weight bearing application, look elsewhere. And please do not EVER attempt to use these shackles in any sort of safety or overhead lifting application. I would also not recommend them as rigging on a sailboat bigger than a sunfish, fyi. They will probably fail if subjected to the load from even a dinghy sized spinnaker.

This little snap shackle is perfect for holding in place the top of my suet feeder (for a variety of woodpeckers). Easy open, easy close, reliable.

Like the feature that prevents shackle from opening accidentally.

Seems to be poor build quality, unable to easily release the clasp if there is any pressure on the gate, and challenging to close as well; you often need to pull the clasp plunger a bit to close.
