Forney 70452 1/8-Inch-3/16-Inch Vinyl Coated Galvanized Wire Rope Aircraft Cable, 250-Feet

We used this to replace clotheslines. Finding a good quality coated cable isn't easy these days what with all the cheap Chinese knock offs. Forney is a name I trust, the apparent quality of this cable is what I expected.

I bought these to put up commercial grade patio string lights across my back yard. When I was ordering this wire, I wasn't sure if 1/8 inch wire would be strong enough. But upon seeing the wire, I think I could've used 1/16 inch wire and not have had any issues as far as being strong enough to hold up the weight of commercial grade lights. I have four strands of lights going across my yard, two about 40 feet long, the other two about 70 feet long. There was enough length in this spool to span the distance with cable left over.The wire is sufficiently strong with minimal sag and swaying even with the heavy commercial grade lights hanging on them. Really helped make the installation look professional. The vinyl coating over the galvanized wire is a nice guarantee that the wire should last a long time without rusting. I'm guessing that the zip ties will likely go before the wire does. That being said, make sure to find and use UV resistant weatherproof zip ties. The vinyl coating can be stripped off easy enough at the ends for securing the wire with the wire rope clips or ferrules.The wire also has no memory effect and straightened out without any fuss. There was no issues with the wire staying in loops or curling around while trying to work with it. I couldn't be happier with this wire. Also, much cheaper than what I could find at the local hardware stores.

Makes an excellent dog run

Needed to replace a woven poly line which basically disintegrated after 1-1/2 seasons. While this is heavy duty stuff for that purpose, it actually worked really well on my foldable washline [looks like an umbrella in the closed position, opens so that all the lines are flat across]. I had to buy special clips at the hardware store, as well as a wire cutter, but so far it's been well worth it. I started in the center of the frame and worked outwards, doing two 'runs' on each side of the frame. After a full season, none of the lines have sagged, there's no evidence of any rust at any of the cut ends, and the vinyl coating has stood up to the elements [full sun, heat]. Not only that, but it was so much easier to thread this through the holes of the frame than the poly 'rope' had been. Doing my research paid off. Very pleased with this purchase.

This cable is great and very heavy duty but it is not 1/8" it is 3/16" Very thick and is nice cable but somebody does not know how to measure or label correctly. The label on the spool clearly states 1/8" but this is nowhere close to 1/8" even without the vinyl the cable is 3/16" thick. I am keeping it because I'm sure it will come in handy and is worth it for the price, but I am still trying to find actual 1/8" diameter cable for my needs.

Works great for duck decoy line. I have used this for "Texas Rigged Duck Decoys". Use 3/16" (outside diameter of the cable) aluminum crimps to attach the 4oz weight at one end of a 4 ft (or whatever length works for you) cut cable and a loose 4/0 fishing snap & swivel on the line and a loop at the other end. Attach the duck decoy keel to the 4/0 snap swivel. The decoy will slide up and down the line. The decoy line will not tangle and is easy to use. Use a carabiner to attach a dozen decoys through the loop at the opposite end from the weight. This cable is a little more expensive than plastic decoy line but it will last forever. The decoys can be easily replaced on the snap swivel.

Bought this to replace existing wash line I had bought in our local hardware store. It is far stronger but more money. I do not expect it to break or rust like the other stuff. Tip - Need proper tool to cut it.

Works great! And was easy to install but I had to do some running around to find the right pieces for the clothesline
