You chose wisely
So I learned there is a lot of varence in what is considered 1" when is comes to something with elastic like properties chainmail. The one on the left is the one they're selling. The one on the right is the last one I bought that was supposed to be 8" by 6" it was more like half a square of toilet paper. It also cost $21. The one for sale in this add is a high gauge larger ring style it will be the last one you ever buy the astetic is much nicer compaired to a greasy steel scrubby lying on the top of the sink. It is easy to clean you just run hot water on it to the grease and crud that you scrubbed off the pan runs off of it or toss it in the dishwasher. The only disadvantage to having larger rings is there is a little bit more scrubbing to get everyspec off the cast iron pan.

Good product, not my first choice for my cast iron
I've tried everything from pot scrapers, to steel wool to scotch bright pads to brushed on my cast iron. I picked up one of these chainmail scrubbers for the sake of trying it on a camping trip. I like it but it's not my first choice.Firstly, if you have a lot of crud on your pans, you're going to want to use a scraper or something to get the big stuff off first. It takes next to no time for the rings on this to get caked up and clogged and you're putting down your pan to clean this.It will get a lot of tough stuff off, but careful about being too aggressive as you might scrape some of your seasoning off. What I do like about it is that it's rugged, can be thrown in any kind of container and is reusable.Definitely worth trying this one out if you're in the market, but I'd recommend the Lodge pan scraper and brush (and maybe a sponge) before this.

Five years and the chain is still unbroken
I am a widower. I live alone. I cook the way I want to. That means I use a small cast iron skillet daily and a cast iron dutch oven pot at least once a week. Big one pot meals I break into single serving freezer bags. I have been using this scrubber regularly for five years. Still works the same as the first time I tried it. No broken links yet. The iron cook ware will be a much appreciated heirloom. I had to scramble around yard sales to find mine. I did buy a lid for the larger skillet from Lodge.

Did not live up to functional expectations
This seemed like SUCH a great idea. But it was anything but that. Perhaps it is because the links are as large and as rounded as they are. The truth of the matter is that this just doesn't clean particularly well, because due to the design not much of the chain mail is actually making contact with the surface of what you are cleaning. I tried it on cast iron and stainless pots, and ended up throwing it out.

Best way to clean cast iron and stainless steel pans ...
Best way to clean cast iron and stainless steel pans without scratching. Eliminates need for SOS pads. If food is stuck to pan, I add a little water and drops of soap and heat it on medium for a minute or so. Then I let it soak for a few minutes before using the scrubber. If too hot, I use a spatula to push the scrubber around. After cleaning and rinsing, I put the pan back on a warm burner until dry thereafter coating with cooking oil or cast iron oil. Finally, I wipe it off with a paper towel. The scrubber comes out quite clean after use but I like to put it in the dishwasher. I recommend this item is a "must have" for all kitchens.

Where has this been all 53 years of my cooking life!
WOW! Super simple. I wipe my cast iron with paper towel to get all the extra grease off, then I run hot water over the pan while using the scrubber. I finish by wiping a little coconut oil on the pan and set it back on the hot stove / oven. (Coconut oil does not leave a sticky residue like all the seed oils do.) The scrubber is very easy to use and light weight. I just use the palm of my hand to swirl it around on the flat surfaces and fold it around the handle or edges if they need cleaning.

Awesome
I love this product! I can easily clean any dish without having little pieces of food stuck in it!!! A typical sponge would have millions of egg pieces stuck to it. This item allows you to clean even glass cookware with a glob of soap and a swirl of this cleaning tool. Five stars all the way!!!
