Time Well-Spent!
I had the pleasure hearing Ms. King speak at the University of Montevallo's spring commencement. Hands-down, she was the most entertaining, inspiring, and pleasant graduation speaker I've ever experienced. This lead me to read the first, of what I trust will be many, of her books. I opted to begin with The Same Sweet Girls, that being her reference point for her speech. As a UM alumni, I couldn't wait to find the similarities in places and campus lore we shared. I was not disappointed. However, this is not a pre-requisite for enjoying this marvelous tale of sweet, sweet, Southern women. The Same Sweet Girls was an intriguing story which I found difficult to leave for the mundane tasks of daily life. The chapters each feature a different SSG (Same Sweet Girl) as she interacts with the others, while documenting her own life. The story lines were authentic, heart-warming, and heart-wrenching, while welcoming the reader to become privy to all the SSG secrets and travails. Not a spoiler: The method in which the author completes Corrine's storyline will stay with me forever. It's picturesque prose is worth sharing with friends going through difficult times, as well! I'll never look at gourds the same way!I'm on Amazon this morning to download The Sunday Wife to my Kindle. My goal for the summer: Read all books penned by this marvelous author. Thanks, Cassandra!Lisa ThompsonUM '79 (Main Hall resident and R.A.)

Another wonderful novel from Cassandra King!
Another wonderful novel from Cassandra King. Same Sweet Girls is the story of six college friends who remain friends for life. The women all come from different backgrounds and each one has a story to tell. They call themselves the Same Sweet Girls, but they are definitely not sweet. The silliness, backbiting and pettiness ends when one SSG becomes sick and needs the love and support of her lifelong friends. The book is sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and always entertaining.

Southern charm at its finest.
Loved this book. A new author for me and I’m picky. I will certainly buy more of her books. It takes a special kind to write about the south. And she’s got it through and through. The characters are so real. The emotional situations are too. I felt as if I’d been there several times. Very good book

Loved this!
This story of long time friendships is heartwarming and heartbreaking, and so worth the read. Cassandra King beautifully weaves a tale that won't be forgotten. The characters are individually and collectively unique, and somehow totally real. A sequel would be very welcomed.

Same Sweet Girls by Cassandra King
Cassandra King writes another wonderful novel about women from the South and their bonds of friendship for life. The characters are well developed and very likable . The girls begin their relationship at a private girls college. Some are from very wealth families and others very poor. They meet twice a year for a weekend and have their Same Sweet Girl rituals in electing a Queen for a year by their sweetness level throughout the year. Each has an interesting past and King tells their individual and combined stories well !I recommend this book ! You will find yourself wanting to get home to read!!
