May not be the best, but this model is pretty good, and it works on court
I’m an experienced volleyball official, with years of experience in high school, club, and college. I bought this a month and a half ago, when we weren’t sure if we’d need electronic whistles or not. I have heard the the Fox 40 electronic whistles are the loudest you can get, but 4-5 different models were tested at the 2020 AAU tournament, and this ‘Fish’ style model got high marks for being fairly loud, having good battery life, and being fairly durable. I dropped mine on accident, and the battery compartment popped open, but no damage. The batteries might have been able to pop out, which would have been a mess, during a match.I have used it briefly, but I have not used it for a whole match. Things to note as an official: the sound is VERY directional, meaning it is only loud where you point it. So, you need to practice with it, and either point it down and angle toward the court, so the sound reflects back up towards the players, or point it briefly at both sides. It comes with a wrist lanyard, but attaching it to the R1 stand or a neck lanyard is a must, as it is awkward and looks ridiculous to have it hanging from your wrist. You will have to practice using it. Also, if you are R2, don’t point it at the subs. Point it at R1, so they hear you (I’ve had a few partners use these in club matches, and I can never hear them, if they’re not pointed at me, when I’m R1). I didn’t find the first two sounds very loud, but the third sound, a warbly, annoying sound like you get from pushing buttons on a phone call, is pretty attention-getting. I don’t think it matches my regular Fox 40 or Molten tri-tone whistles, but it’s decent. Finally, keep extra batteries with you. These averaged around 30 matches’ battery life at the AAU tournament, when used by R1, but they will die, and sometimes they die early, if it’s left on!I’m holding out for a Fox 40 electronic whistle, and I’m planning to keep this as a backup, but it’s okay on its own, and I have a plan for using them, if I need to.

The volume isn't adjustable
Only one volume setting works. It's okay, but not what was advertised.

Great alternative
This is a great alternative to use in my Physical Education class during the pandemic. I like that I don't have to put the whistle in my mouth. It's on the larger size and fits nicely in my hand, but a little too big to fit comfortably in my pocket. It does come with a lanyard.

It’s shaped
Didn’t realize it was shaped like a fish but is nice and loud so should work on the ice..... big enough that I think it will work with my gloves on.... I will update after the first practice

Not a bad whistle, but kind of quiet
It’s a pretty good deal for the price because most electronic whistles are a little pricey, but this one is quiet. It’s hard to hear in a crowded, noisy gym.

Very High Pitch
Bought this to use to referee volleyball matches during COVID. It's nice that it is a hand whistle, but the three tones that it lets off are very high pitch. After long-term use, I found myself getting a headache from it, but it does it's job.

Indoor possibilities
It is not as loud as I expected. It will work indoors but probably not outside. Also, the sounds are not what I expected for the price paid. Not sure I would buy it again

Find different model
Purchased as backup for volleyball officiating as we are using e-whistles in our state for high school. Put batteries in it upon arrival and testing. Switch was concerning as it seemed looser than other models. Overall a lesser quality option. Sound was "OK" but needed to be louder. Figured I would hold on to it in case I ever needed an emergency backup. Original purchase date was 8/28/20. Fast forward to 9/10/20, wife wanted a whistle to use to call dogs in from back yard as they are trained to respond to them. Gave her this one to use. Barely an audible sound. Figured, OK I did leave it on in my bag. Just need to replace the C2032 batteries (4 of them. Really?!)Replaced all four and still a barely audible tone regardless of switch position. More of a disposable toy than a valuable tool. Look elsewhere. Fox40 has proven to be my most reliable (and loudest) but you will also be paying more. Windsor multi-tone has also worked well for me.
