Playlist: The Very Best of Sponge

I saw this cd as I bought sponges new album, Stop the bleeding. Usually, sony does a good job at putting these compelations together. I would rate it a 5 because I like the band, but honestly this is a 4 only for the fact it is a compelation of only their first two major label records, rotting pinata and wax extatic. Likely that is what the record company owned the rights to. I was hoping some of the New Pop Sunday Material would make this, but it didn't. 14 song on this makes it essentially a chopped down version of both albums (rotting pinata and wax extatic), So getting a copy of either of the first two cds would be just a little more expensive and at least currently rotting pinata has autorip avaialable as a bonus on amazon. but, for 7 dollars this is a budget short version of both albums and I recommend it if you are interested in this band, likely having heard the song "molly (16 candles)" or "Plowed", as well as "wax extatic" or "have you seen mary" or rock stations or sirius xm radio.

For not enjoying more when they were young, I really enjoyed this CD. Sound quality could be better but that's how it is sometimes.

Love how this compilation is made up entirely of songs from their first two albums (1994's Rotting Piñata and 1996's Wax Ecstatic) but for the cover they went with a photo of the band from 1999 (third album, New Pop Sunday-era). Not a bad choice of songs but it's clear they spent very little time and research throwing this together.

ジャケ写が大分若い頃の様な気がしますｗ　まさか今になってもう一度Sonyが彼らのベストを出すとは思いも寄りませんでしたが出しちゃいましたね。　当然ながらSony在籍時の音源しか入っていないので1stと2ndからのみの選曲です。　もしかしてリマスターされているのではとか淡い期待を持っていたので幾つかの曲を調べてみると1stからの曲は原盤と比較して音量が上がっていて2ndからの曲は一部音量が下がっているものがあったりと何だかよく分からないマスタリング＾＾；　　原盤だと後発の2ndの方が音量が大きいので1stから選抜した曲を2ndと同じレベル位にすればと素人なりに思いましたが何か事情があったのでしょうか。(内容は☆５つですが上記の理由がよく分からないので☆２つ減らしました）　　収録曲ですが#1 Plowed#2 Molly(Sixteen Candles)#3 Wax Ecstatic#4 I Am Anastasia#5 Rotting Pinata#6 Velveteen#7 Got To Be A Bore#8 Have You Seen Mary#9 Neenah Menasha#10 Pennywheels#11 My Purity#12 Rainin'#13 Drownin'#14 Silence Is Their Drug　贅沢を言えばMollyは再録じゃなくて最初のテイクを収録して欲しかった。
