Rod broke on the first catch
I purchased 2 of these rods for a trip to the keys. I also purchased a couple 4000 series Kastking spinning reels. They all arrived quickly in great shape. The rods seemed very well built and robust, exactly what I wanted for our trip. They easily packed in our suit cases. The first day in the Keys we went to fish from a nearby pier, and on the first hook-up the rod broke just below the tip piece. I was disappointed to say the least. We had 6 mores fishing days left. Never did get to see what I hooked into either, the line broke shortly after the rod did.The second rod worked great for the remainder of the trip. The spinning reels are awesome. Very smooth. I'm hoping I just got a lemon rod and that Kastking will send me a couple replacement pieces. I've submitted a warranty claim with them. I'll update my review depending on how they respond.UPDATE: A week after submitting a warranty claim I haven't heard ANYTHING from Kast King. I have to change my rating of this product.

Reel seat broken after first hour of use.
I bought this rod for a fishing trip in the Pacific Northwest, and the reel seat started sliding around the pole right after an hour of usage, which is pathetic. This pole was brand new. I went to a local tackle shop, and bought an Ugly Stik Bigwater, and it was a night and day difference in quality. Thanks KastKing. I will never buy your fishing rods again. This is NOT equal to an Ugly Stik in any way, shape or form.

Very nice rod!
I've been fishing a long time at this point in my life. One of my dad's friends used to make custom fishing rods. He often bemoaned the poor quality of current off the shelf rods, saying that companies that used to be top notch were no longer any good. I won't name names... But, remember that your reputation is everything to the longevity of a company. Once you destroy your reputation for quality, it is really hard to repair that. This made me pretty picky about what I was going to buy. He said most of the rods these days were made in China and were not to the same standards they had been when they were American made - no surprise there I'm afraid... I have no idea where this rod was made. It could be Chinese, too, but the design is American at least. Anyway, I'm very satisfied with this rod so far. It's stiffer than my last rod, but that's not a problem. The rod flexes well and I'm not worried it will affect anything. Caught 4 fish with it the other day - no problems, other than they were really small fish!I got the 4 piece travel model in 7 ft. medium, spinning. I've used it this week a fair bit and it performs well, though I had to really press the sections together hard to make sure it didn't move or come loose. That's to be expected in a multi-part rod. There are a couple of nice things about this rod. Obviously, it breaks down for travel really well. Also, one of the sore spots on rods is if the eyes are out of alignment - this is very easy to get right with a rod like this. You have to do the aligning, but you probably won't get a rod that has the eyes off center in a rod like this. It's also a lot less likely to get broken in shipping. Also, the shipping packaging was superb. Unless somebody dropped something really heavy on this, it should protect it well. Nice hard and heavy shipping tube that came in a box. My only suggestion for improvement would be to use larger eyes on the rear of the rod. I feel smaller eyes on a spinning rod near the reel impede cast distance due to extra friction. But, I get decent distance with it using a Rapala swivel shad rap. Fishing for trout and redfish.Overall, I can't imagine getting a better quality rod at this price point or quite a bit higher. YMMV, but it looks like solid and good quality to me. I got a Garcia spinning reel to match it and they are both black and red color scheme. My niece walked off with my last rod.... Need to rectify that problem... I wasn't planning that, but it just happens to match - bonus. Best of luck! One thing about carbon fiber - be very careful not to scratch the carbon fiber on the rod. If you score carbon fiber, it is much more prone to breakage. If you don't believe me, look up, "carbon fiber arrows and exploding." Not for the faint of heart... I shoot aluminum, thank you! If you don't beat up the rod, it should last for a LONG time.To the company - good job! It's rare I buy a product that is better than expected, but this is! Please do not let the quality drop in the future... It matters.

As Advertised!
Great Rod! Just got back from Canada and this was the only rod I used! Very sensitive, could feel the bite every time! Used primarily bottom bouncer, but did jig 1/2 a day. Either way, a great feeling rod! Would recommend for value, quality, and strength! It will be going back with me next year! Becoming a fan of KastKing products! Packaging was very nice, as well!

Unusually horrible! Disappointed
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I originally ordered the wrong rod. I ordered a cast rod when I need a spinning rod. Has been stored in a climate controlled garage until now. Stored in its original shipping package, never used or put together. I ordered a new baitcast real to put on it for catfishing. Im excited, pull the rod out for the first time, put the reel on the rod, go to tighten it down, and realize I cannot do so. The butt end of the rod spins around the shaft traveling through the foam handle. Looks like the glue inside the rod seat has hardened and is no longer sticky. I am an avid kastking fan. This is super disappointing and a huge loss of money. Hopefully a fluke. Sad!

AWESOME SPINNING ROD!
I bought the 7 foot MH Brutus spinning rod to handle big bass and catfish. Firm, but sensitive rod. Comfortable to hold and excellent hook set! As good if not better than my Ugly Stick GX2 and costs less, too. Get one for yourself!.

IMPRESSED WITH PACKAGING MORE IMPRESSED WITH ROD BUILD AND QUALITY
This comes packaged w/ care but i was more impressed with the quailty feel of the rod. I put a small 1000 size reel on it for catching baitfish but hooked a 16" Fluke and this rod took it like a champ. I WILL be looking into more KastKing products as i already have some super power KastKing braided line which is awesome as well. Thank you KastKing for making quality gear for an average persons budget. This is a tough little rod!!!!

Strong, compact, economical travel rod
This rod feels great! The 4 sections fit together nice and tight without having to muscle them together, come apart easily. The sections are small enough that they'll fit inside most carry-on luggage. I've paired this rod with a Shimano Sienna 4000FE, and the combo has great balance and feel. I can't wait to test it against some redfish or snook, and even largemouth bass. The quality is evident, I'm very surprised. Handle is comfortable, the reel seat tightened down and holds the reel securely. It looks good and feels good. I'll plan to order another now that I see how good this rod is.
